Alpha Channels?

ya, how can i make them in photoshop &/or paint shop pro? I read the tutorial on hud, reticules, etc...but it had nothing to do with creating your own from scratch...so how can i make alpha channels so the black parts of my reticule, contrial, grass-scenery, etc doesn't show ingame?

i think u have to draw your black parts on a new mask layer. then when you are done, there should be a button that says save mask to alpha channel. im not sure where that button is. try right clicking on the mask layer and also look under the options at the top.
