i would have done that long ago if i thought it would help. ive done it many times and no change. ill be firing a shotgun and some of the sound will be nulled out occasionally. that is the soundcard i beleive. the reason it worked fine before is because perhaps you had much more space on ur hardrive. now if theres more it interfers with your soundcard which causes that scratchyness. the only way i can see to fix this problem is to get a new soundcard, but then you have to buy more ram because halo will be more laggy. vicious circle isnt it?

I have had similar problems like this, including sometimes the sound doesnt work the first time i pick it up and fire (e.g. the energy sword in NMC_H2 and Zanzibar_H2). Also, ever since i upgraded to the latest NVidia drivers, sometimes smoke disappears for a bit then comes back. its not lag b/c in LAN where i'm playing on my own it does the same thing.... but now that you mention HD space i might clean up my drives.
