Run a modifer called STL check, and then make it select only the open edges, use a shift and drag on the edges in editable poly and in some cases you can cap some of them, or weld each open vert together.

when i run the stl check it says it comes up with 16 errors which is just as many as tool says, so it must see them, but i can't......i put in to select open edges only but then what?could you be a little more detailed when it comes to what to do next to fix it cause im still a bit of a begginer with max and need a little more guidence......thanks

This means that there are open areas "holes" in your map.
A map neads to follow the sealed world rules, incase you
didn't already know that. All you need to do is zoom really
close into the map and look around for open edges.

Good luck finding them.

Ok, then once you have done that, right click on the model and go to convert to > Convert to editable poly.

Then on the right all new options will apear, and click on the edge selection tool which just shows the edges of a tri.

Then you will see the open edges become selected, so press F3 to go to wireframe, or f4 to show the edges and you can then get the move tool, hold shift and then drag one of the edges down, then scale them all so they go into like a point, then go to the modifier panel and go to vertex weld near the bottom of it, and change threshold to like 20, or whatever and then it should be done.
