TUT-How to make a ladder climbable in Halo CE.

Post by x13igDudex12 »

Ok...i'm not really going to go into making the ladder...

make a box, put boxes into it..attach them...and then boolean...

now..to make a ladder climbable you need to name your material with a mark.

Open your material editor and make it a multi-sub object. Select your bitmap and look at the name of the bitmap. I'll use example_tutorial_metal for this. apply your bitmap. go to the main aterial editor page (with the sub-objects) and select the one you put the bitmap in. Click on it and name it your bitmaps name with these two signs at the end:

%^

so my sample name should be this:

example_tutorial_metal%^

This will make it two sided and climbable.

Now when you're doing your collision-geometry do the same thing. (well this works when I do scenery, wont have to do this for maps)

Open the material editor and keep one material for the ladder. This is good for scenery you want ladders on such as towers or bases.

name it collision-geometry with the two symbols at the end.

So it should be this:

collision-geometry%^

Now place your scenery (if it is) in sapien and try to climb it. Im guessing you can make anything climbable. I' going to try to put it on something like a tree.....lol..

hope this helps.

Add a Tut: tag in the front of the topic so people don't think you're asking for help.

Nice tutorial.
