I've been itching to ask questions about mapping.
My first question , Is there a way to import map terrian into 3D studios max 6? You know such as grab a single player level and import the mesh into 3d studios max. I know it can be done but the problem is a plug-in to do this.
My second question , How do you do Alpha blends so halo recognizes it. You know like take a grass texture and start to blend it with a rock texture. I've watched some video tutorials but they show a rather...mudance style of texturing.
My third question , Are their anyfan made vehicle models that are free for public use. Such as the Snow Warthog , ATV ect... All Credit will be given of course. (I've been searching around on these forums for a few days now and haven't found them but have seen that poeple have made some nice ones.)

A few questions...
For your first question. You can open sparkedit, and open up a HaloPC level in it, and then you export mesh. It exports it into .obj format. You can find the .obj plugin somewhere (don't remember where *try checking the utiities section on the files forum*). Once applied, you can import the .obj object, but it will be tiny. Import (merge) the masterchief reference model into the scene and scale the level to the size you wish to have. All the faces (or most at least) are flipped. So you want to highlight everything and then flip the faces.
For your second question. You can download the video tutorial for paintshop pro (by Kirk) and it tells you about making alpha layers etc.
For your third question. Check out the models/references on the files forum. Just explore there, i'm sure you are bound to find something.
