Playing mods on virgin Xboxes (Halo 2 and Content Downloadin

Post by bchbummer2 »

OK, I suppose this has been answered elsewhere, but I've searched for a couple of hours now and can't seem to find it...

Anyway, it must be possible to host mods on a modded box and let unmodded boxes join in on the fun.. (over syslink, xbconnect, whatever).. because Halo2 will eventually have downloadable maps, and obviously the xboxes would have to communicate map data back and forth in order to play, right?

Also, I've seen it done on xbconnect (some1 had mods I played that I didn't ever have or mess with), yet every time I host a modded map, the only people that can join it are those that have downloaded the exact same map (modded boxes). Otherwise, they get a "you failed to load the map" error.

My question is, where do I find how to implement this technology? Does anyone out there know how?

I dont think you would want them to be able to download your map because Xbox Live would recognize the map as modded and you be banned...

right, but i wouldn't be able to play on live anyways, because the map has to come from somewhere, like a modded box. i want to host a local game on my modded box, and let my unmodded buddies join in. the game would only look for differences in the mapfiles, and adjust them to match mine.... some1s done it over xbconnect, but i can't find out how...
