Ouch Guy! I'm just posting my work people; i appreciate your criticism Guy, but you didn't tell me why you don't like it. I know Ignite, and I know he wasn't "talking crap" about you.... just pointing out that the map isn't near completion. Don't take things so seriously.... he was just pointing out a fact. No need to get angry.

i'm not sure about this, but is there a maximum to textures in a map? i know increased polies slows things down, so does the same principle apply to textures? if so what's a good maximum? i'm hoping it's a lot <crosses fingers and hugs TIFs in cot

Perhaps you could reduce the amount of lag by having things like signs, wall graffiti, and billboards by making them scenery and/or decals. Then you could move them around easier.

no, that map is currently in permanent hiatus... i'll probably get back to it after everything i'm doing now... the problem is is that was literally my first map in max, and going back, it looks U G L Y. I'd probably just redo it if i were to release it.

i've transfered most of my halomods time over to the pictures area over in the files forum... seem to get more response there, but this thread is my home, so here's some more pics that i've published :)

^^it's all about the city peripherals and advertisments ;)

sorry for some of the bright renders... i've been experimenting with light tracer dynamics (thanks snaf)... some of the pics capture the effect of halftone shaders that i will be trying to capture on the roads to give them a sheen on the sunny day. that's all for now.

You seem to be going a bit overboard with those advertisements... looking at Headlong and it's ads and graffitti might be a mroe realistic approach.

haha don't worry... this is one of three billboards with a sense of humour... everything else is purely realistic. i just thought this was a nice touch over the ghetto district :)

the point of the ad is to contrast with the ghetto disctrict, "le quartier" below it.... the poor area is what was left behind after urban revitalization in the city.... the ghetto is a last tribute to ancient architecture. don't worry though, the municiple planners of Cot
