Need some help exporting and using the "tool" prog

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Need some help exporting and using the "tool" prog

Post by Bass »

Please help me out here are my questions...

Im completely done with using 3ds max and am going to export it, im also using the Vid tutorials just to let you know. Everything seemed to go well except when I have my level selected and go under edit mesh the parts under the bases are textured retarded, but when I go to the UVB (or something) or Unwrap UVB the textures are fine.

Well anyways the important thing it when I go to export it says to exports it as something like JMS, thats fine except wont give me that option!

Also I dont know how to use command prompt to navigate to my Halo CE folder. When I start the command promt it goes directly (like its defaulted to) "C:\DOCUME~1\MICKGA~1\"

Please I really want to play my map :(

Thanks!

I am new to the mapping stuff myself, but I am familiar with DOS. If you can tell me what folder your HaloCE is in I can tell you what to type dos

For instance if you installed HaloCE to its own folder it would be in C:\HaloCE

if you installed it in Program Files it would be in

C:\Program Files\HaloCE

that is the Halo CE folder is inside the Program Files folder which is inside the Drive labelled C. You can tell this by using My COmputer

so....tell me where it is located and I'll tell you how to navigate to that folder in DOS. ;)

okay...well in your command prompt type:

CD .. (and hit enter)

and keep doing it until the prompt just has C:\ with a blinking line...now type:

CD Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition (and hit Enter)

and you'll be there! ..just so you know, CD means Change Directory.

Hope that Helps!

OK well after being extremely creative and renaming folder to 6 characters long (dont know why but I could only use 6 characters and I had to have a ~1 at the ends of them) I managed to do it! Ill just rename them later, if neccessary.

and to export as a .JMS you need the Blitzkreig plug-in for 3ds-max, I won't tell you where to get it or how to use it because it's been said a million times, the search button is your friend -> The Magic Search Button

Despite what some would have you believe, blitzkreig can be a pill to find. Here's the version you'll need if you have Max6 or 7:

Don't be afraid to check out the files forums off the home page, they have a lot of utilities, documents etc available.
