haloded.exe and init.txt

Post by I_LuV_BuRRiToZz »

I know this may sound noobish but, how do you use Halo Dedicated Server? And also.... i hear stuff about a file called init.txt but it doesnt exist at all in my Halo directory. If anyone could help me with this that would be great.
my pc: AMD Athlon XP 2800+, Geil Dual Channel 1GB RAM, GeForce MX 440 with AGP 8x (soon to be GeForce 6600 128MB AGP 8x), integrated audio from my mobo (supposed to be better than a soundblaster live), a Samsung SpinPoint P Series 80GB hard drive

You need to download the halo dedicated server 1.02 and the the update to 1.04. Install 1.02 and then copy the new haloed.exe from the 1.04 update and paste it over the old haloed.exe in the program files/halo folder. You also need to copy the maps into the map folder or download them from the same site you got the dedicated server from. The init.txt file should also be in this folder.

Check out this post to see what you can type in a init.exe. PM me if you need anymore help

or you go to: http://bungie.com/News/Story.aspx?link=HaloPC106
the dedicated server or "DS" is at the bottom.
-Next cut the DS from the download folder and put it in your Halo folder(C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo).
- next open up notepad and type in something simular to this:
sv_name "STUNTS(go_red)"
sv_tk_ban 9999
sv_maxplayers 5
sv_rcon_password 430399
sv_mapcycle_timeout 1
sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add dangercanyon STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add infinity STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add wizard STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add beavercreek STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add chillout STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add carousel STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add icefields STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add hangemhigh STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add gephyrophobia STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add timberland STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add putput STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add sidewinder STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add ratrace STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add longest STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add boardingaction STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add damnation STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add prisoner STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch STUNTS
sv_mapcycle_begin
rcon 430399 sv_ban
rcon 430399 sv_kick
rcon 430399 sv_players

-After that save it to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo, as: Init
- then you can 2click the haloded and there you go instant DS.
-If you want to join your DS, go into halo and go to network settings, then replace the port numbers: 2302 and 2303 with 3000(instead of 2302) and 3001(instead of 2303).
-Then go look for your server in the lobby or do a direct IP connect.

If there is anything else just ask :)

-A dedicated server is like a server that you can run without running halo itself. It uses the fiels in the halo folder to run an online server without your supervison if you choose to leave your PC on overnight or something like that. It also gives you complete control of who is allowed to stay in your server. If you look around the files forums you can find a great extension tool for the dedicated server that does "auto kicks"( i.e. it will automatically kick certain people out of your server). You also have the power to join it at anytime and have absolute control over the server. You can also have absolute control over the server by simply using the command propmt console(the black GUI outside of halo). To admin a server inside of halo( that is if you don'y know how) go to this site:
http://www.hackhalo.com/tutorials.php?tid=1

-make sure it looks like this: halo.exe" -console
NOT LIKE THIS: halo.exe"-console
