exporting a new map... Help me please.

Post by danielelias »

Well I have created a new map from the gmax tutorial and I have made halo ready by following all the guidelines in hek and I want to know how to put it into halo ce for testing. I could use all the help I can get.

You use chimp (read da readme!!) but there's a thing I think the guy who made chimp left out. You have to put EXACTLY this without the quotes: " YourMapName.JMS ". Try that. I never got chimp to work but, I think that might do it. Follow the HEK instructions.

It's a map exoporter for gmax. If yuo don't have it you can't export your map to jms and make it into a map. LINK:

ok I figured out how to use the first part of the proram (the exporter) and then it tells me to use "Grablistener.exe" and I have found it on my c drive and when I click it all that comes up is a black screen and then a "save as" window pops up. What do I do with that?

Actually, you don't export it as the .jms just yet, its kinda wierd, you have to click the "listener window" under the export halo structure, now once that is done, open your grab listener and save as "yourmapname.JMS" now open up some text editor and delete everything before and including "*****Begin jms*****" and everything after and including "*****End jms*****" now click save and it should work (actually it might not, I got chimp to do this and the jms still didn't work, then I downloaded the 3dsmax trial and blitzkreig and it worked fine)

Ok I figured it out. Now the readme says that I need to use a program called tool to compile my map into a scenrio. WHat is tool and where do I get it?

You have to navigate to the program through comand prompt. Click start then go to programs and then accesories. Click command prompt. Then once its open type: cd\program files\microsoft games\halo custom edition

You have to type "cd" before every word you say (except when tool is running) to go through the directories. Once youi tpyed that type: tool.exe

That should open up tool (there will be alot of text) put your .JMS file in your maps folder, and then type: tool structure levels\test\yourmapname yourmapname

Your in trouble if it gives you an error. If it gives you one, you will have to fix it.
Good bye. So long. I hope we never meet again. F u halomods.com
