How to make your own map?

Post by red2kic »

Hey everybody, Im newbie here and I just signed up... I did alot of lookin' around in the forums and other websites. So far, I downloaded some custom-made maps, HHTv5, and HMKv2. Im trying to make my own map using those programs unless you got better one. I got few good maps in my mind right now. I did viewed the map in spark edit and are able to view around, rotate the weapons or making the copies. But one thing, I can't figure out how to make my own map out of HHTv5. Could anyone help me with that, maybe some tutorials or better programs? AIM/YIM me at "red2kic" and you can tutor me, lol. Ill be right back to check this post. Thanks. 8)

Yah I did bump into that topic before, but I didn't know if it was for me. I don't want to put the maps on pc, but I want to put the halo on xbox. I don't even have halo for pc and also, HEK is killing me on dial-up, 24 hours to be exact, so is there any similiar program? Or are those programs the only way to mapping?

Lol, not really. Most of my friends have dial-up, just like me, but I don't get on computer often. But mail? That is silly, lol. I would just pick the disc up or something. I'm thinking 'bout download it while I'm at school but I don't know if they got cd burner tho. I already left some messages to some, tho. Sorry, but you all know, dial-up does blow big time.

Note: To those who got fast connection, you are friggin' lucky SOB!! :(

Lmao, true. I could give you my address if I really wanted it. And I do, lol. I'm not in rush but one thing, I'm newbie or you guys refer it as n00b, lol. I'm willing to learn how to map and try my best to my ability to make it look reality unlike some people just made plain dumb maps, but it is fun either way, lol. So basically I'm starting this from scratch and I'm still waiting for the chip to arrive so I thought why not learning while you are at it? Know wha I mean?? I'm sure everyone is way ahead of me, I mean, I just got my first xbox in aug 2004 so I'm not over PS2 entirely. :)

1. there are VERY few people who know the map format of halo xbox maps good enough to get maps on xbox
2.to play custom maps you will need HaloCE and to have HaloCE you will need HaloPC

Okay, so basically in order for me to play on xbox, I would need to get someone to download this for me would be....

- HEK (Halo Editing Kit) so I could start my
mapping progress....
- HaloCE (Halo Custom Editons) or is it Cache Editors? Beside what is this for? Don't you PC users change the files in Halo map folder?
- HaloPc (Halo Game on PC?) Why the HaloCE?
- NMP (New Maps Pack?)
- .map (Any map I wanted to install to)
- 3Dmaxs (Mapping Tool) I think... I'm not entirely sure...
- PS (Photoshop) for texturing? I already got that one so don't worry. :)
- SparkEdit to view maps, got that.

Anything else to add or is it all good now?
I'm trying to get up with you modders/mappers. I think I'm doing good so far, lol. Hehe
