Halo 2 SMG [NEW INGAME PIC!!!]
Rendering is easy, for a car you could set an architectural material, or possibly even edit one of the mental ray materials, apply it to be metal, give it an ambience of the colour you want it to be, press f10, change the render to mental ray no gi high, stick a light in and you can change some of the mental ray render options to make it render to a more advanced lighting, you could make it take days to render if you wanted
.
I would reccomend buying some vray plugins, so on. Vray is one of the most advanced render types available, it pwnz mental ray.

Well I use Brazil r/s to do my renderings. On the yellow renders I used Vray r/s. They are different rendering systems from MR r/s.
And sonictag please learn a bit more before complaining about smoothing groups. The Lamborghini doesnt need smoothing groups because later I apply meshsmooth and its a whole differnet world.

Uhh, you might be able to, i heard most r6 plugins work on r7. Ok, you might have applied meshsmooth, but you have a common error of dark patches from smoothing which doesnt show up in the render, and if it diddnt show up in the render then it had to be smoothing groups. Mesh smooth creates automatic smoothing groups, all it does it add to the illiterations to smooth out or just add polygons to edges. Smooth uses a form of vertex paint to darken edges to others, you can do it manually if you want.
Don't tell me to learn more, I took a 2 year half course in max, I know alot more than most people.

i say.. MEH...
it's nice, so are the cars, but i aggree with catarn.
read some tuts on topology and smoothing, but theyre pretty nice.
i say keep working on it, and get it better.
dont let em get under ur skin, ur doing a nice job, and we all had to start somewhere, some of us have it, some of u dont, some of us just take longer to get the hang of it. just keep it up.(even though ur still relatively newbish)
