Question about map making

Im gonna try to make a map but i dont really know if this is possible

can u make buildings and stuff then just attch them to the bsp w/o welding or anything?

Probably the only way that is possible is if you create the buildings or whatever as scenery, but that would probably take longer than actually welding it to the level.

What you could do is make cuts where all of the bottoms of the buildings will go and weld them like that, or you can snap it to the object and just link it, that way there will be no overlapping polygons, but it means you have to give the buildings all a base underneath it, so you wont have any open edges.

Yes you can make them seperate from the level, just make something and link it to the frame as well.. be sure that it has materials too..
Personally i make most buildings and stuff as scenery since it's very easy to remove or re/dis-place them. It needs collision-geometry though, so it's a little more work.

ok, so how do i snap stuff(i know where weld is, but not snap) and when i try to weld it to the skybox thingy i cant get 3ds to let me select the skybox, do i hav 2 attach it?

In that case; yes.. but then it's part of the skybox, don't know if that's ur goal..
