Ok, well a few weeks ago me and my m8 had this amasing idea for a map Aliens (the film) and so far we have decided to make everything on it new, i mean weapons, vehicals, HUDS etc.
Anyway i have a small feeling that this would be a bit hard to do between two newbie mappers, so we are gona need some help with advanced tool, advanced guerilla, maybe skins, a an assist with some advanced modeling which is coved my "thegriffenmaster" (a amasing modeler) but not that good at the advanced stuff. Bear in mind that i mean advanced when i say advanced when we doing all this.
For this job we are looking for 1 or 2 people so if u think ur up to it contact me of grif via aim "elbat4" or "thegriffenmaster" or just me via msn or email "[email protected]"
It sounds like a cool idea and you are going to get some work done, I would usually try and help but im doing some 3d modeling for some games at the moment, so im a bit occupied with that. If you need any help, you can just ask me, but i dont think i will be able to make anything for u.
Might as well help you,stop!!! people got shutdown everytime they have tried this i think theres one mod for halflife that didnt get shut down so if i were you id aks permission if you could make this mod.
Oh, yeah, i remember that, there was big copyright problems with all the mods for this. If you are can get copyright permission that would be cool, but you wil probably email them and not get a reply. You could try and use the same concept but with diferent looking aliens, as if i remember right, it was the alien (i think the aliens head shape actually) that had the big copyright problems with.
Hmm... i didnt even know that there were copyright things with things like halo moddin... there goes my awsome idea...... ANYWAYS sounds good if u get permission
Realy, I never knew there was copyright laws in halo modding and besides we're copying the film not the game, so most stuff will have to be made up on the spot, its realy only the weapons, vehicals and marines we're might be useing. Also the Aliens film came out ages ago, and u know copyright only lasts for 7 years?
But, i guess i'll try to get permission though.
Copyright will last like forever with a movie. There have been too many problems, you should try and ask though, before you start any work on the alien model. It really sucks...
Oh my god. Jesus. C'mon people. Make your alien model. Call it an alien. They don't have copyrights on the word "Alien". Nobody's going to sue you and no one's going to shut down or delete your mod.
Don't you know that in order to shut down your mod or sue you, they have to get a subpoena from the government over someone making something that looks like their movie. You're fine. Make the mod. If you haven't noticed the Halo community isn't very large, there isn't a chance that they'll find it anyway.
I think, u my be right dan!! i mean its not going to be a complete copy of the film anyway and Aliens is such an old film if someone finds out which i realy think will not happen, who are they gona talk to, i mean i spent ages looking for an offical Aleins site and i came up with nothing.
Besides i'm still looking for some good mappers to help me and grif on this map, anyone interested?
Or just make the level and only skin the level and MC, don't model him to look like the aliens, if the shape of the head is the big deal. I started an Alien skin mod for Longest about a month ago, but it didn't turn out as good as I wanted so I didn't release it, the only images worth using that I could find on the internet were Geiger paintings, no good shots from any of the alien movies. I was gonna borrow the movie from a friend and get some good still shots, but I then I started Flood Gulch (xbox) and forgot about it. I was thinkin about just creating a new level with 3ds but my modeling skills aren't that good yet.
Good luck, if you can get a good modeler/mapper this could be a great mod! Make sure he does all the cool stuff on the walls. If this gets off the ground, get ahold of me on AIM and I'll help you out with some skins.
Ok, grif has send an email to Fox, to ask if we can can make this map, and anyway we still havn't got any mappers to help! Plz if ur interested aim me or grif or post on this thread.
At this time we need someone to help grif with max 3ds e.g animations and someone to do tool and complex guerilla (we have had plenty of offers for skining so we ok on that front)
I wouldnt consider myself an absolute expert, but I have had a lot of experience and I know the HEK and CE very well, in other words, im a good mapper, i will help out.
