ui.map Halo_logo problem

Post by Spartan III »

Ok, here's what happens, i save the halo logo DDS file, modify it to a certain extent and then reinject it. What happens next? The background of the logo is black! Please, if anyone knows, could they tell me how to make the background of the logo transparent. Thanks.

When you save it, make sure it's in the right format (I'm sure you have that right, either 3 or 5 depending on the bitmap), but make sure you save it "With Alpha". All DXT2/3 and DXT4/5 have alpha channels that don't show up in photoshop. You need to make sure these alpha chanels are saved, they tell the game where to place other bitmaps over them (like the grass in bloodgulch), what parts are transparent (the background of the letters you're trying to get), etc. depending on the shader they are used with.

Just make a new logo with the same dimesions and the same file type, example (256x256, dxt1) and start a new image with a transparent background.

what you need to do is open the dds file in adobe photoshop or paint shop pro or whatever you use.....just make sure that you can edit the channels....edit the alpha channel to make the backg transparency the way you want it.....lighter colored alpha will make the beginning menu in halo darker while darker colored alpha will make the menu more transparent.....
