I love barney! not really. ooooh!!! the bases!!! well, if you're familiar with The Fall of Reach, the red base is the Sigma Octanus Museum and Archives building, a stereotypical looking white building with pillars and steps. Inside, there are pictures on the wall, and i am planning to have the rock john recorded in the geology department. If you go up to the roof, it provides a nice sniping defensive point against the street. Also, there is a glass dome on the roof for some nice offensive rappeling. except without the ropes. it's more of just a painful fall. haha. the blue base is the UNSC HQ office building. you can fight your way up the front steps and waste throught the glass windows, or break the glass at the rear alleyway that enters onto the second terraced floor. On the second floor is a marine reqruitment booth and the flag. on the first floor is the reception desk, a series of elevators, and an overall shiny looking lobby. the elevators take you up to either the pelican hangar or the roof. i have balanced it in such a way that the museum is harder to attack while the unsc has many entrance points, whereas the unsc is larger and has some sweet pelicans. and in terms of halo lore, i have chronological 'events' going on everywhere. this includes warning signs on all vidboards, info terminals, ATMs, 4 radio broacasts that you can here off of different audio sets, and maybe in cars. I also have the AI Diana giving automated service messages here and there, and greetings in the unsc lobby accompanied by some cheesy elevator music. one of my favourites though is the real-time battle audio over fleetcom. it features com-chatter between soldiers in battle all over the cote d'azur coast on Sigma Octanus, and follows the events of the books.
anyways, enough talk, here are some more pics and ads that i gave some cool effects:
a render of the south block with Halo2 Chief and ODSTs matted in. And then given a graphic outline look.
Matt from the Bungie pic by E Smith, an excellent artist, over a city scape. This picture is intended to show of the pelican feature if all goes well with that vehicle.
Not my favourite one, but i really like the inverse negative effect. Looks cool.
