Trying to make a map in gmax but dont know much (nothing)

Ok I watched a few of those HEK video tutorials and kinda figured out how to make this map but I have a few questions:

1. Once the thing is done being modeled does the entire thing have to be one model? You know like attached?

2. Once it's done how would I get the wepaons,vehicles,biped etc. into my map file?

3. What in the fuACK(spellt on purpose) is a BSP?

4. is a UI an user interface if so what's it for?

5. Can I make a texture for my map in paint??

6. How do I put water in the map?

7.How do I put a holothingy in it?

8. How do I make things not solid like walk throughable?
9. How would I make tunnel go down into the "ground"?

I am basicly just making it up as I go I'm kinda planing some underground tunnels going from the tower- HEY! I just got a cool idea!

I'l make a SLIDE going down the tower! You could slide alll the way down!
Anyone know of a good angle that would make MC slide??

Also that tower is bigger than you think, it's set at 43 feet!

for making a tunnel, make a simple tunnel mesh and then cut out with boolean.
