Halo install stuck at 34%

Post by Cortov »

Like the topic says, the Halo install gets stuck at 34%, c20.map

I had uninstalled Halo due to some serious crashing and now it won't reinstall. I have also run some various anti-adware, spyware, and other programs like that and still nothing fixes it.

I just copy everything out the halo cd and paste it back on a new cd.
I use nero or that cheap cd burn wizard.

Actually Alcohol 120% is far superior to all those programs that were previously mentioned. Of course, if your disk is seriously scratched, there is a possibility that no program will be available to recover those bad sectors, so your ISO will exhibit the same problems as the original scratched disk.

thats why u make an iso right after u get the cd!!!

get a friends cd, and make an iso...

and Alcohol 120% is the best... I use it all the time...

to clean cd's?

no!

to make iso images... then u can burn them back to a blank disk or load them on a virtual drive that means it tricks the computer into thinking theres a cd-rom drive and then u can like load the .iso image of Halo and the computer will think that u put the Halo disc in the cd-rom

also to clean cd's u could get something that will take a layer of the plastic away... unless the scratches are done on top...

Ubisoft added checks in the ubi.com program for Alcohol and won't run if it finds it. So if you like those games to be online, you might not want that program. BTW: What ubi is doing is technically illegal, or atleast frowned upon.

U Have no Idea what ur talking bout!!

Alcohol is NOT a program that cracks ur cd! Its a perfetly legal back up cd software...!!!!

thats all it does... how can ubi check for alcohol?

u dont know what ur talking bout...

also, get winRAR, open ur halo cd... get on of the .cab files... 5th one I think, extract it to a folder... find the c20.map and copy it in ur %haloroot%/maps folder

bullet... you dont understand... I was born with a computer... LOL

no... its just that I sold my rig, and now I'm waiting for new parts to come of my new gaming rig. (so technically I dont have a computer)

I use a server computer right now, but its pretty much fuccked up, so I really cant do much.

and my dad needs to use my laptop so its his for tha yr... plus laptops are now a hassle for me, I find no interest in them anymore... gaming rigs are much better.

Actually, he is right. Ubisoft (along with a few other game developers) HAVE implemented checks for Alcohol 120% but not in the way you're thinking. It actually is just a check for virtual 'fake' drives. In order to have these fake drives, Alcohol 120% has to install new drivers for them. Daemon Tools also does this, so I assume Ubisoft checks for Daemon Tools also. In fact, Windows Service Pack 2 runs a check for Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.
