well no its not... that would be very cool you are very right but the files are so big that it would just lag the server alot and ud have to unRAR it and all that so its just too hard and complicated. but thats a great idea though!
a what? a script... man talk in idot cus im not fluent in english so please speak very slowly to me. does that mean like when its dled it will auto unrar it to a specified location, convert to a .map file and then play?

Good question.Does it?
Feel free to send me an instant message if you need anything.
It would lag the server provided you're getting the map from the server. Could one not develop a tool that will auto-download from a seperate location? I wouldn't imagine that it would be too hard for a 1337 programmer. Just something that tells a program outside of halo where to download the file, then unrar's it and sticks it in the maps folder. The only problem i could think of with this would be the fact that you'd have to restart CE. But could that same program be coded to run halo CE then auto-connect directly to the server's IP as if the player connected via the console? hmmm looks like i wrote one of them TOE chart thingies.....i think that's what it's called...
wish i knew how to do stuff like that, but it's all beyond me (for now at least). All i know how to do is write webpages and program visual basic.net.....easy stuff but at least it's a start.
Sentinel allows downloading and unraring of mods with a simple click on the link.It only works for servers that are using Sentinel though. And since Sentinel isn't public quite yet, there is only one server.
really? so then this has already been done? or at least to an extent? well if we could just take that and pimp it up a little bit we could have somthing worth front page possibly...?
it would be very nice and helpful to those that don't quite understand how to "install" maps (not me, but we've all seen em'). Plus it might attract more people like those lazy bastards who don't want to have to go find the maps or w/e.
oh yeah, there would still be a need for a client-side program.....hmmm maybe (in a million years) someone could convince gearbox to include it in an update....hmmm just a thought....
lol GBX isnt a person it stands for Gearbox. we should ask Gearbox about this and tell them all this stuff and they may just pull this off!!! Now no more lazy people that wont go dl the maps can just click and theyre done!! horay!
