OK now for my 2 cents
I've played both xbox and pc versions. It comes to money like it was said before....
If you have unlimited amount of money PC is better.
Better Graphics (yes better graphics i dont know where you guys are getting this tv is better then monitor crap?). Higher resolution...i can play halo up to 1280 X 1024 (ok not really MY computer). Even playing halo wiht 800x 600 resolution you can see better resolution (tv resolution donest get that high). Not to mention frame rate is faster on computer monitors then tv.
OK lets face it First person shooters were Bred and born with mouse and keyboard...so even the attempt (i love xbox dont get me wrong they have one of the best controllers for consoles *cough* once you get past the crappy original one and get the smaller less bulky one *cough*) to play on an controller is semi hard. I have to turn my xbox sensitivity all the way up to even TRY and emulate keyboard and mouse controllablity.
Truth is my hand (and most hands) can respond a lot better then jsut your thumb for lets say a full 160 degree turn. So i can "whip" my spartan around faster then i can on an xbox controller (hopefully fixed for halo 2 online). I kinda wish normal xbox had an mouse and keyboard option for xbox i woudl rule online.
OK online is free out the box...which is nice, of course this is just me against microsoft himself...but xbox live pisses me off...why do we have to pay for xbox live to get on the net, PLUS the isp fees....another way to rip people off. Xbox kinda wins on the 2 player co-op tho co-op RULES pc shouldve had it wouldve been better.
Ok pc is easy to mod meaning to make it custom...which i just LOVE because i am a mod whore....(TFC for HL for 4 years cstrike sucks now btw) which is why i love computers anyway...and no void of waranty like with most xbox modifications. But thats not really relevant. Lets just say pure halo no mods or anything....Xbox is limited...can only do so much...there was slowdown on xbox when a lot of thing were happening (yes there is specially when flood and covies are BOTh on screen in co-op). But with enough money you can produce a computer to play halo with no slowdown at all....better graphics...and faster frame rate. As far as the speakers and sound...both can be emulated on tv and on computer so both are equal.
Now dont get me wrong most people dont have an unlimited source of income or a higher end computer (im running PIII 800mhz with 330sdram and ati 9200 all-in-wonder which can barely run it), so xbox halo would be a more considerable buy unless ...your like me and want "pure" online gameplay then a pc would be better (which is why i bought the pc version anyway, online play).
