TFW Phantom?!? Uoy retteb tuhs eht lleh pu erofeb I kcits ruoy daeh ni a Wraith nonnac dna erif ti, elohssa! Seriously, that was totally unprovoked.
BTW, the speech and music files are in Ogg Vorbis format. Only a few of the sounds such as the SR's nightvision noises are in ADPCM. Google a program called Yamp. It'll convert those to .wav and even to .mp3. And then of course back to .ogg to put back once you've reversed them.

Fear me, for I am Zuka, the slightly insane Warthog driver!
Youre speaking it forwards, with the words backwards.
How you are doing it:
Example:
I ma gniklat ekil na etile
If you read it backwards, it reads "elite an like talking am I"
How an elite would do it:
Example:
etile na ekil gniklat ma I
If you read it backwards, you will actually get "I am talking like an elite"
you wouldn't carry a conversation well with an elite

maybe or maybe not.dung_beetle wrote:I have nothing better to do than to listen to all of the Halo PC audio, and guess what I have learned. All those times to heard that Elite talk, you were hearing it in plain English... just reversed. In all the voices I have listened to, it is just average talk backwards. I'm not sure how well known this is but I thought it would be worth the post.
Please don't flame me
my suggestion... take a recording of a elite, and then open it up in the Windows provided sound recorder and go to effects and then select the last option "reverse" then play it and check urself on the concept.

Yea I screwed WTF up, and typing totally backwards is MUCH harder. It also gives at least a clue wo what the hell I'm talking about.
Hey, there is a purple office building called Covenant Office Center near my house. I coulda sworn I saw a Grunt in there, but it was probably just a midget. Or Hans Moleman. Or...nah...it was just a midget. Or was it?!
*cue Twilight Zone music*
And, technically, WTF would be TEK. Or KET for those who like to challenge their brains.

1. The Master Chief does have a translator for the spoken languages, but it's based only on how far humans know the Covenant language.
2. The Covenant have their own language, and each race has their own language, I believe.
3. The Elites speak in Halo is backwards. When they say "Wort Wort Wort", that's "Go Go Go" backwards.

u know, once i was coming back from the movie theaters... i was nodding off as usual... when i noticed a big truck, like the ones they move company stuff with... when i noticed it said "Covenant Transport", i thought it was funny, like when it reaches the shipment and they open the doors... a whole bunch of elites and grunts pop out and shoot the dock workers, and one of em talks into the com "Stage 1 complete"... that would be creepy, but the truck part is true... haha it said "Covenant Transport" hahahhaa... okay

Wouldn't Cortana be the translator though? In the books they said, what, she could translate every language? Something like that.Hunter wrote:It does in the previews... I think it was tFoR.MasterNeoChief wrote:Never said anything about a translator in the books...Hunter wrote:In the novels, it says so.
