how to change the skin of the level, vehicles, and weapons

how do I change the skin of the level, vehicles and weapons? I don't have adobe photoshop either. Is there a tutorial I can read???

first step, get photoshop, second step, search, look up skinning, bitmaps, anything you can find, this is extremely basic, and should almost be common knowledge, you should not have to ask this in a forum. do not read that as a flame, just as a heads up, it gets very annoying seeing posts day after day after day about skinning etc.

I just downloaded photoshop CS trial where do I put the .dds plugin? I don't see a plugin folder. also how do I get the object I want in photoshop? do I just open it or import it as something???
