.jms file not saving

Post by Samio »

ive never made a map before but i want to just make a test map to get the basics down. I followed the tutorial here at halomods.com by Kirk but when i try to export the model from 3ds max in .jms format it says 'There are no actors to export' then it says 'Export module failure'. If anybody knows how to fix this i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Very Nice tutorial Kirk

make sure you have a referance frame and its called frame, and that your level is called skybox and that everything in your map is linked to your frame.

well i'm having trouble linking the frames together, i have the frame, the skybox, and two boxes named RedBase and BlueBase. I select redbase, hold control, select the frame, then click the frame again when the link sign comes up (i think its the link sign) then i do the same for blue base, then i do the same for skybox, am i doing something wrong?

yeah, what you do is, click on the link tool on the top toolbar, It looks like two boxes linked with a chain. Then, click on one of the bases and drag to the frame. A line should link to the frame. Do the same with the other base. Then hit H to make sure they're linked. I dunno about all this ctrl stuff, i just used the link tool

hope this helps!

thank you sooooo much bro, i understand now but how would i check to make sure? how would the list look like? and also do i link everything to the frame including the sky box?

I have the Frame, Skybox, RedBase and BlueBase, those are the names of all the objects in the map, so if you could give me an idea about how the list would look that would be great. Thanks again
