Bravo; I am in love with the look of this damn thing. I have a working serenity if your interested: its over 10MB though >_< by like 1.5MB...maybe you should rebuild it without some certain unused things... or I could if someone...hummm... Gimmi a sec and I'll check back in...

EDIT: Can someone point me in the direction of a good map rebuilder? Oh and I guess before I do anything to your map I should ask your permission theycallmechad. Can I ask what the duplicated bitmaps are for? And while I'm on the subject can I try to rebuild your map to < 10MB? (Not the map but just the final Serenity Patch...).

Sure, that would be great; however, I'd like to run through the map after you rebuild it first to make sure it's just right. A lot of changes I made are subtle enough that few people besides myself would notice the difference. I appreciate your willingness to do this for me :D.

The reason there are so many duplicated bitmaps are because when I suplicated shaders, I duplicated them recursively to save time. This means that you have tons of duplicated reflection maps, MC Armor bitmaps, and the such that are unused. Many of the duplicated bitmaps are indeed reskinned, but not all are.

Also, I fixed the DL link on the first post. I couldn't get mine to work today for some reason. Thaks for the new link, JC :D

Yea... I know I've seen a map rebuilder somewhere but I can't remember where: Oh well; when I get off work/school or after work I'll look in the programs that I have to see if ones a rebuilder.

Here's a picture I took in my quest for a Main Menu picture.
It shows off more of the map, if you care to see more.

very nice. I love the ice. It would be cool if it had real time reflection on it :D

That's not built into the game engine though. Cube maps are the way bungie did reflection in halo 2.

Indeed. I used them all over this map. I wish real time reflections were possible, but it still looks pretty sweet with the reflection maps.

How did you make the ice reflect with olny a selected part of the bitmap. Like on the mountains.

I edited the Alpha Chanell. The Alpha determines where certain textures will reflect, glow, and things of this nature. There's a lot of fun to be had with Alphas :D.

I appreciate you quoting my incorrect spelling of the word "channel" over and over and now over agian (counting my quote).

Anyway, here's as much of a tutorial as I choose to give you. Feel free to look at the shaders I used in my map (WITHOUT RIPPING THEM!) to find out more. The white texture in the Alpha channel is where the reflection map will appear.

Image
(I believe I scrapped the above texture and never used it in the final, but I can't remember. I scrapped a LOT of textures while I was making this skin)

And HSM, glad you could post! :D It was kind of you.
I didn't use glare because it was supposed to be a darker map. Glare wasn't the feel I was going for, but feel free to give it a try and post some pictures :). Thanks buddy!

Yeah, I hate being in the snow only to be blinded, I wouldn't want it in a game myself :P But that's me talking, and I'm the one who doesn't like snow skins :P
Chad, its just a pity that photoshop doesn't save alpha maps properly with dds files :( But yours still looks great and doesn't need that anyway...I'm just more complaining about things that I've run into...I'll stop now chad ;)

Oh and for those of you who have just commented...Just play the skin, sure considering its a skin most people think you can just look at the pics, but when you see this skin in game, with all the nicely done reflections, you'll realise its 70% better than what you initially thought (assuming you thought the skin was 30% kool ;))

lol; ScottyGEE are you talking about the fact the alphas get screwed up ingame-- or that they don't fade properly?

think he's partly referring to the troubles Alphas give you when making Transparencies, but I may be mistaken.
