Sort of... In campaign the engine tests that you have an oddball in your hand, and sometimes if you're in a certain area. I can do that in MP too. If you take an oddball into a certain area you die, or it kills everyone else or something. Maybe like bring the flag into a certain area to open a path or something (that would be cool, use the flag as a key).
As for the effects of skulls in mp... I can make the oddball trigger the skull, but the effect will still only take place in SP.

can you make it so when you bring a vehicle to a certain area you get a point?
think about it, there can be new gametypes, Hijack the vehicle, suicide bomber (make the vehicle a blow up when you get to a certain point) VIP (bring a certain person to an area without him dying and you get a point, you can have him hold an oddball or something, but have it be a weapon so he can shoot.) hostage rescue.
oh and landmines! sweet. so basically you can have custom triggers like the zanzigate and the containment gate?!?!
i just splooged

Well, within reason you can. I'm not sure if there's a command for giving a team a point... and I don't think I could find out without asking Bungie because no map uses it. But I can make something happen when you take their warthog and bring it back. I can make something happen when you bring your vehicle to their base (this one's easy). I don't think I can make it score a point though.

I can see me getting really into this script stuff since i'm good at that.
I made scripts for scar for rs bots, made a whole game with my scripts with 3d game studio. I already understand all that if this happens trigger that, if's and ands. I just hope we dont have to go into a hex editor, which i'm pretty sure you did. So i'll hope these programs that are coming out maybe work like this, opens map, shows all scripts for the certain items(in tree format) Then when you click on it, it opens showing the script then you can edit it.

maybe if there was a command to change a atribute of the mastercheif or elite. I dont know the commands in this but this is how i think that might go
if mastercheif enters some area like x1=5,y1=6,z1=10,x2=10,y2=15,z2=20 then
set var"health-or something like that" to (some number)
but then again, i dont know hwat im talking about

i think you could use a trigger for that, but i wouldn't go into thinking about that yet since soldier of light said there is probably only a certain amount of commands.SpecOp44 wrote:What if, in Outskirts you have a pelican flying over-head after you cleared the courtyard, it delivers a few lines of dialog and flyies away. Could it be possible in multiplayer with scripts?

I've released my fair share of teaser pics and such...Course, I also tended to not run around afterwards with promises and bragging...And good ol' TF6 never had members who didn't help let alone understand what I did off bragging about how awesome their team is, and that "they know and you don't haha"...I think thats what irk's me more than anything...Stupid people prentending they're cooler than you because someone they know did something...selyb wrote:im the kind of person who thinks everything should be open source and free and from my POV, i dont understand how anyone could benefit from not knowing what you do and how you do it
i think the baby with the car is a poor analogy
i think a better analogy would be 'to teach a teenager how to drive when they have no experience'
"im going to wait until i know everything about driving before i begin to show you how to drive"
the only downside i can see to showing people what you know already is that someone might be able to use the information and pawn it off as if they did all the work
the upside is you could have alot more help in figuring things out
take myself for example, i have much experience with scripting
ive written VBScripts of more than 600 lines and ive edited some TCL/TK, cscript, ruby, javascript
i also have experience with hex editing stemming from editing the memory on a GS3 on PSX
but since you keep it hidden, there really isnt any feasible way i could help
i am also the kind of person that hates being teased
why show us a little and then tell us you wont give us anything on it for a couple weeks? why not just wait until its ready before you come out with it?
please dont take this as flaming, im merely stating that i cant understand your POV from the previous posts
That being said, they did share by posting the Serenity...I spent about an hour last night, and in that short time was able to trace back most of how it works (and maybe even find some problems with how they did it...But I can't say for sure ;o)...And thats from someone who hasn't really touched a halo map in months, and has no concept of how Halo 1 scripts look...I only looked as it's something I never really understood from any version of Halo, and peaked my interest on an intellectual level...Had I still cared about modding maps, still worked with maps, and had a real desire to be able to do this like some of you, alittle effort would likely go along way...
Take of it what you will...

Uh oh, Iron_forge found my mistake!!
Hehe, yea, I did make two mistakes, one on purpose, and one by accident. The one on purpose was not using any references to the string table (except one). The accident was adding an extra 0000 in there, which caused the 0 gravity (but suprisingly didn't break the map).
But anyway, thanks for the encouragement.

If I am correct, wouldn't changing the 0000 to say 01FF or something add slight gravity? Or at least whatever 01FF would be in game?Soldier of Lite wrote:Uh oh, Iron_forge found my mistake!!
