All you have to do is open the dds file and convert it to jpg, then you can open it with paint, and when you are done, convert it back, its that easy

Can this save the alpha channel for editing? If not then I agree with Philly; use DXTbmp.

how do you edit alpha with paint in the first place?

DXTBmp will exprt the alpha into a program you choose for editing.
