(Halo 1)Halo Mod Manager Version 2

Post by kyboren »

I added support for applying batch files with ppf's, so you don't have to have copies of your maps, *EXCEPT* for rebuilt maps. And I fixed a few minor bugs from the previous version. PPFs used with it *MUST* have undo data!

Very easy. Just fill in the blanks, and click a button or two. Maybe in the next version I'll add a button and edit box to launch Halo with command line switches so you can start Halo right away, like suggested to me by vatoloco. Would that be useful to you guys?

Hey, thanks for this program again. I also have one request, can you make multiple ppf's at a same time? Like with nitro's Forest Gulch. You must edit 2 maps and make bat?

I'm not sure if the next thing is possible though, what about a mix of ppfs. You create 2.bats, one ppf bat and one map .bat
Is it possible to create one file to install them both by one click?

Also: Halomodspaths.txt is removed now :)

EDIT: I think someone in the other topic already asked this, but you can't put more than 1 file in the last without restarting the program. If you do it twice the new mod gets the same name as the first one.

Wow gunblade, calling me on everything!
-The same name deal: I have no idea what is making it do that. I have reviewed the code and it appears fine to me. If you want to help, i would appreciate it.

-I will add support for 3 files with the BatchMakerPPF soon.

-Awesome that it is removed now. I didn't change any of that code, though.

Few questions that may sound kinda n00bish....
1)How can we tell if a PPF has undo data?
2)So instead of APPLYING the PPF to a copied map and putting that in the "modded map file" we just put the "mod.ppf" in there....and that's it? thanks again<sigh>

HaloJunkee, Just read the Help file. You can tell if it has undo data by opening it in ppf-o-matic 3. If it lets you check the "apply undo data" box, it has undo data. If it's greyed out, don't use it. EDIT: In the next version, I hope to add support for Xhzjang's HMMM tool. We've already talked about it. That would be cool because you would only need 1 file to mod all the maps, or whatever maps you choose.

I have found this program a little confusing. The only problem i have found is the same as gunblade. When I want to add more than one mod it has the same name as the first one. Or sometimes it is differnet but when i apply it it apllies the first one.
Very great program though but I haevnt figured out how to use the ppf batch maker thing yet. So i just copy sounds bitmaps and map aplly ppf's with ppf-omatic-3 and then use batch maker and tell it the new patched ones are the modded map files. Hope you can understand that.

To fix the bug just reopen the program after you made one, and it'll have the normal name.

Mods often come in .ppf, unless they're rebuilt. Just select that .ppf as ppf patch and the map (it sais in the .ppf readme). Then filename is *.bat
And that's it. Sometimes the patch doesn't work because it doesn't have undo data. If this is the point, you can't use batchmakerppf

Wow gunblade, thanks :D . Great job explaining, I'm not very good with words.

And I have no idea why it has that bug, I would gladly share the source if anyone knows how they could help. It's written in MFC C++.

If the mod doesn't have undo data, you'll have to manually apply it and use BatchMaker instead of BatchMakerPPF.

Hardly any PPF's have Undo Data so I will do it my way. I love the program btw makes my life a ton easier. my MAPS folder is getting kind of bigh though. I would help ya if I knew C++ (To complicated for me) and I dont really need to learn it yet. im only 14.

People should make their PPFs with undo data. It's a lot easier to apply undo data than to re-copy all the maps.

P.S. I'm 14 too. C++ isn't very hard, and this program is far from advanced...
