hmmm how to make a ppf patch in not so many words

Post by chunk1189 »

HOW TO MAKE PPFS

-requirments
-ppf studio you can download here http://files.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=7

file output is the ppf file name you want it to make like "modgulch.ppf" leave file_id blank
for original file find the original map for the game "unmooded one"
for the patched file find the modded version of the map
then hit create ppf-patch

in case that link ever fails..............
step 6 refers to a COPY of the map that you make beforehand, i think
it seems pretty easy...

This tutorial is pretty detailed so I hope it works for you!

Step 1 - Open up PPF-Studio which you can get it here if you don't have it

Step 2 - Look Under "PPF Output Control." Where it says "PPF File (Output)" click the folder icon to the far right of that line. It will open up an explorer type window, and your cursor will be blinking in the "File Name" blank. Type what you want your PPF file to be named there, choose where you want this PPF to end up (ex. desktop), then click open.

Step 3 - Where it says "Patch description," type over "Patch created with PPF-Studio v1.01" what you want to be your PPF's description (this is not necessary).

Step 4 - Where it says "File_id.diz" do nothing to it. Same with the to check boxes "Include Undo Data" and "Patchvalidation."

Step 5 - Now under "PPF Creation Control," choose the tab "General (not Xbox, or any of the others)" and where it says "Original File" click the folder icon and browse your computer for you original .map file of the level you are modding (must be the original), and click open.

Step 6 - Same tab as before, where it says "Patched File" click the folder icon once again and find the modded .map file you wish to make a PPF, then click open.

Step 7 - Still under the same tab, in the "Options" box, make sure the box "Scan whole file for modification" box is checked.

Step 8 - Click the large icon "Create PPF-Patch" and you will see in the "Status Logfile" box, say "Finding differences..." Once you see "Ready. Found (a number will be here) differences... Your done. YOu can now "X" out of PPF-Studio, or click the other large icon, "Quit PPF-Studio."

Step 9 - Now go find your new PPF at where ever you put it, and once you've found it, rename it, but you only need to add a .ppf at the end. Your done!
