[Halo 2] Serenity v3

Decided to hammer this out yesterday/today...You know the drill, it's Serenity...

New Features:
  • Active Path vs Local Path, will default the folders of maps to the folder with the patch, rather than the defined local map folder...
  • Support for blocks >16M, and added data per block >16M...
  • Comparison is now done at the byte level...You're not likely to notice, may make smaller (or larger) patches based on the changes made...It'll likely be alittle slower creating a patch aswell...
  • Non-Compliant creation mode...This will allow you to make a patch even if the map has holes in it...It still requires the starting point for each block (see UAT) is in the correct order...Basically as long as you don't move an entire block of data (like the file table) to a different location in the map file, you'll be fine...Secure map patching is disabled when using this option...
  • File Association now works...If you associate the .serenity extention with the app, it will open the patch in serenity, ready to be applied...Single arguement, being the patch...
  • You can now also send 3 arguements in the order "patch source.map target.map", and the patch will be applied to source map creating target map, and the app will close...Be warned the app backgrounds during this process, so if you call it repeatedly, you'll likely attempt to patch all the maps at once, not one at a time...Something else to watch for is if the mainmenu stuff was enabled in the last load of serenity, it'll also try to apply the mainmenu addition based on the local path/active path settings...
  • Lots of other backend stuff you won't notice...
Serenity (as always), verifies the Encryptomatic Signature when creating the patch, so the patch will always contain the right one for the map...You won't need to resign the map after applying a working serenity...

To all the patch creators, take the time to verify your patch...It only takes a few seconds to take the patch, re-apply it to the original map, and compare to see if the result is the same as your modded map...If it is, you know the patch will work for others...If it doesn't, try non-compliant mode (if you didn't just start with that), and repeat...Still doesn't work, go back to sppf...

To compare apples to apples, a rar'd serenity is worst case senario on par with a rar'd sppf...It's usually smaller...Apples to oranges, serenity patches are compressed, so they're always a ton smaller than an uncompressed sppf...Serenity will work on 95% of mods...SPPF will work on 99.99% of mods...Use it when you have to...It has a cool fractal...

And on that note, Serenity and SPPF almost always rar down below 10MB...Thats the post limit on halomods...Stop wasting everyones time with rapidshare, halo websites, and other share sites...Attach your mod to your post...

Looks good, nice to see another update to a great program such as this. Maybe we can get off SPPFs when possible, I prefer Serenities.
