limit is 50 maps it doesnt matter if its dlc or mainmenu.

Thanks hope im glad people are interested in this. Yeah I really dont see how people could use this to cheat on xbl expecialy seeing how with the new update all the maps are hardcoded into the xbe making it impossible to add new maps.

The signature is something I really wanna crack though, hopefully we can do it soon :D

it's been cracked several times. talk to the right people (TSF, anthony). and i'm quite eager to add DLC maps 8) so far great work shade.

and cheating on live? meh i dont think so. the liveupdate blocks any other content besides bungies own maps. this can't possibly be used to cheat.

The map size limit was broken, AI was put into MP, we were shown larger BSP's are possible... I don't see why we can't have more than 50 maps on the mainmenu, but then again... what do I know? :P

I was thinking about releasing my application because then it would end the need for all those other little applications. I don't really see a good reason why we need this tho, if you can just patch the mainmenu

Well, with this out, people are going to be creating and releasing incompatible patch_v3.lvls and arguing over whose map gets what slot. And then there's the cheating potential.

The whole point of Mimesis was an organized and efficient content distribution through DLC that guaranteed maps system linking with each other. Then we took a temporary hiatus due to lack of testers for content. I think this might just be the final nail in the Mimesis coffin if this gets released.

The XBL people are going to find ways to cheat regardless.

However, this would help the playing of certain maps over Xlink Kai, or create a more uniform system to ensure system link compatibility, which as someone said was Memisis's point. However, Memisis did not allow you to add your own maps, which meant you were stuck with a selection the Team decided.

While not everyone can have every map because of the size limit, you could created a directory of modded maps, and a standard signiture for each to play online with it. Then its just of matter on Kai of asking over the Headset if someone has the "HM Standard DLC" version of a map.

Just ideas. I'd be glad to help on some basic standards to keep things organized.


By the way, somebody said something about SP DLC. I've never heard of it. Is it possible?

That's the thing about Mimesis, you've got your own specific Xlink and XBC sections where everyone has the maps. And due to the smaller and refined selection of content, you don't have to hassle with switching as much to fit the 50 map limit. Even once you make your own DLC files, you still have to take the time to actually put them through CDX, which you have to configure for Halo 2. It winds up being more work than editing your menu, I had to install content through CDX in the past before Mimesis was fully working.

There's a reason these apps have been made and not released - they aren't going to benefit anyone by being out there, as they're more hassle than editing the mainmenu. Not to mention you have to use exactly AU version 1.1 and that means no Yelo. Without a uniform distribution system, having the patch format doesn't really do much good. And it opens up new cheating.

I also agree with Dwells. He brings a very good argument to the table. Although IMO I think completing this will also just help the community. Just for research and information purposes. I'd be happy to have this even though it's more or less the same exact idea as mimesis.

free access to information is the name of the game, what you do with it after that is your business. if you want to argue over who's map gets what slot or how this could be used for cheating i think you should do it else where. this may not be used by everyone and it may cause some small complications. but the information is priceless. i could care less if mimesis goes under, i respect what they do and give them kudos for doing it. they have provided service much better than xbl could have ever done. however if a little thing like releasing how to make your own DLC is going to kill them altogether then they probably werent doing that great of a job anyways. have any of you ever tried to join a game on xbc or kai under the mimesis section (probably not) but if you have you would realise IT IS ALWAYS EMPTY! so if you want to blame anyone for the death of mimesis blame yourselves.

i am 100% for seeing this completed and released, if anything you just learn from it, whether you use it or not is up to you.

great job shade45 and keep up the good work, you're an inspiration to many of us.
