HMT: How to Make Human Turrets

Well, I have been asked several times by some of my friends, and seen many people asking how to make Human Turrets on the forums.

And since I know how to make them, I taught, why not make a tutorial on it.
And so I did.

You will need the following below.

HMTv3 with the Collison Model Plugin and more (Download Plugins Here).
SparkEdit3.02

1.Open up Hmtv3. Then open any map that you want to have human turrets in.

2. Then, take off all of the collsion model pieces of the warthog (in the branch "[coll] Collsion Model"). But dont take off anything thats related to the turret.

3.And then go to the branch "[vehi] Vehicle" and pick the warthog. Go to seat 0 by clicking on the arrow on the drop down list. And take off the seat name. And do the same for seat 1.

4. Next, go to the branch "[vehi] Vehicle" and pick the warthog. And at the right, click the little circles that are next to, Kill Physics, Kill Antenna, Lower Turret to Floor.

5. After you done that you can change the bitmaps of the warthog (in the branch "[bitm] Bitmap") to the cryo tube (but not the turret). Or you can change the shader model in the branch "[soso] Shader Model" with "characters\cyborg\shaders\shield hit" in the branch "[spla] Shader Plasma." I like changing the shaders because when u change the bitmaps u gotta make an extra .ppf file.

6. Now move it in Spark Edit to your desire. And your done!

PS: Please dont flame me about that its been done before or that someone had posted a tutorial before. And feedback would be appriciated. :D

Ok i will refrase it. And about the plugins...instead of putting the links to it. Can I just host it on my server and put the link on this topic?

I think the collusion model edit might need a bit more explanation, I'm still trying to figure it out.

Guys! This is so old. The tut and plugins and everthing are released. Look

CLuis's Turret Mod Tutorial
--------------------------------------

INSTALL THE CUSTOM PLUGINS I MADE INTO HMT 3

WARNING: IF YOU ARE A N00B DON'T ATTEMPT THIS

These Steps are pretty simple.........

1) Open your FRESHLY MADE cache***.map

2) Pick a piece a scenery that you want to replace with turrets (if the map doesnt already have vehicles, or if you want to add more)

3) You can add more of that scenery later with tjc2k4's new scenario plugin.

Step #3 If you do add more vehicles or scenery with the plugin your gonna have to use SparkEdit to move the new ones.

4) Inject the included Warthog models where they are appropriate. Like replace Hull(0) with Hull(0) etc...

5) Swap the Scenery's Model with that of the Warthog Model (Can be done in HMT by swapping model meta)

Step #5 allows you to view to model in SparkEdit its not necessary

6) Now using the collision plugin I made edit the collision on the hog so that everything related to the gun keeps
collision and everything else doesnt. The Frame Chain can either be off or on. I have it off.

7) Now goto the Vehicle section in HMT. Select the Warthog. Change the ID to a turret. Select Seat #0 and erase its name.
Do the same for Seat #1.

8) Select the options "Kill Physics", "Kill Antenna", and "Lower to Floor"

9) After that If you plan on switching the scenery to become the turret u need to follow a scenery to vehicle tut, theres tuts on that everywhere.

10) If you did switch the scenery to the Turret then i suggest u switch that scenery's model to that of the warthog (Do it with HMT)
This is so u can see it in SparkEdit 2.5 . :)

11) Now go place your turrets where you want them with SparkEdit!

12) Have Fun If you have questions just put them in the post at the X-S forums.

Has anyone ever tried to make a turret from vehicles OTHER than the Warthog?

hmmm.... i dont care if this has been done b4 (but i knew it could be done... just not how). i must have missed it. but this opens alot of possibilities for my Maze Gulch mod and Stack (yup, the one from Goldeneye)[/i]

I still got one prob, I tried your tutorial and I ended up still having that damn windshield of the hog. What did I do wrong? I did everything according to your tut, HELP!!

I think the models are missing from that plugin, I know on mine some distance models are the same, because I can see it at certain distances, an with a scope.

I can also get in the hog, in the driver and passenger seat, is there anyway to "delete" the seats? I was thinking of changing the seat names.
