Halo CE - Devmode Tutorial. (also has how to kick/ban)

Post by Timo12 »

I made this a long, long time ago.

Okay since so many people have been asking i decided to post a sorta tutorial thingy.
First of all you need to make a shortcut of halo CE on your desktop. done? okay, then right-click and select properties. then in the target box you should see something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe"

To be able to kick, you should make it read as follow:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe" -console

Then ingame when you hit the ~ key, The "halo cmd" as I like to call it (console) comes up in the corner.
Now the quickest way to kick someone if your holding a server is:

1. Hit the ~ key then type in sv_players the players #, amount of tk's ping etc. will come up.
2. Find the number that is next to the person you want to kick.
3. Finally type in sv_kick # (# is the number of that person)

extra note: or if you want to ban do the same thing except type in sv_ban #. and to find out all the commands hit Tab, but most won't work unless your holding a dedicated server.

DevMode?

To activate devmode is the same to activate the kicking ability. First go into the halo CE shortcut on you desktop, hit properties and if you still have -console in, it will still read like this:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe" -console

and for devmode to work it needs to look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\haloce.exe" -console -devmode

Okay now that you have activated devmode, when you go to play multiplayer only create game: LAN is avaliable. Then make you own game and again when your ingame hit the ~ key. Now if you hit TAB there is too much for it the screen to pick up and most don't work. but here are some cheating commands:

* This spawns one of each powerup around the player: cheat_all_powerups
* This spawns one of each vehicle around the player: cheat_all_vehicles
* This spawns one of each weapon around the player, including the flag and oddball skull: cheat_all_weapons
* This will spawn one regular warthog next to the player: cheat_spawn_warthog
* This lets you take control of any character you make contact with: cheat_bump_possession <#>
* This makes you absolutely invincible, even from falling: cheat_deathless_player <#>
* This gives you infinite ammunition for every weapon: cheat_infinite_ammo <#>
* Any enemy that looks at the player will automatically die: cheat_medusa <#>
* This lets you jump very high. (should be used with deathless player cheat, otherwise you may die while falling): cheat_super_jump <#>
* Human weapons and the needler never have to reload, and the plasma weapons can not overheat: cheat_bottomless_clip <#>
* Change this from 1-20 to make the game run faster. change it to 0 to make the game pause: game_speed <#>
* clears the console screen: cls

Now for the camera to work you need to type in debug_camera_load. Now the camera will get out of the master cheifs view. To move around you'll need to click-in the scroll mouse/middle button, other wise hit both the left & right buttons at once.

To move around:

NOTE: these are if you have custom controls or not.
W - Forwards.
S - Backwards.
A - strafe left.
D - strafe right.
R - move up
F - move down
G - Spin camera on the X axis???
Scroll mouse up - slows down the camera movement
Scroll mouse down - speeds yo the camera movement
camera_control 0 - takes you back to master cheifs view.
To edit the HUD (heads up display):

hud_show_crosshair 0 - makes crosshair disappear.
hud_show_shield 0 - makes sheild disappear.
hud_show_health 0 - makes sheild disappear.
hud_show_motion_sensor 0 - makes the radar disappear
To make them re-appear instaed of putting a 0 after, put a 1. but if you want to take out everything:

show_hud 0/1 - NOTE: it will say "false" but everything on the HUD should disappear.
Cool things

cinematic_start - makes the screen fade into the widescreen cinematic type thing.
cenematic_stop - makes it fade out into normal
Now, to be able to play halo CE properly again, either quit out of CE or do it the smart way and type in "quit" into the devmode prompt and it will end halo. Now go back into the halo CE shortcut properties, then target and take off the -devmode.
