HEK: Editing Strings

OK so this tutorial is to teach you how to edit the string for a map you are making, like when it says "you picked up a ____"or when you die it says "theguy204 Died" you could change it to "theguy204 died HA HA" or whatever you please.
1.Download this program and extract it DOWNLOAD HERE
2. BACKUP you ui folder in your tags folder!!!!
3.open the program and go to open list navigate to you Halo CE root directory, go to tags, and into your ui folder pick a .unicode_string_list and open it,once you open it you will see a big list of words that you recognize from playing halo.
4. If you opened ui/HUD/HUD_item_messages it is for weapons and things you pick up so you would click add/insert item to add to the list so you don't mess up the other words.If you open another one like, multiplayer_game_text, then click on the one you want to edit and edit it below, once you are done click save list and overwrite the one you opened
5.you are probably wondering how you are going to get it into your weapon, or into the game.If you added a new text string to the list for the weapon, memmorize the number it was, then open you weapon tag that you want to say what you typed into the new string, go down to predicted resource and then message-index, then it says message index and a number,replace the number with the one you used and save it and close.
6.Now go to tool and rebuild your map. If you edited the game strings like the you died thing you don't have to do anything, whenever you rebuild a map it will automatically put it in for whatever map you build with tool.
If you don't want a specific map to have the same strings for the game multiplayer game things,that is where the backups come in.
so now you are done now go play and have fun!
