Here is a very small tool that costumizes the terrain,
its for UT2k4, but when u have 3ds max you can convert the terrain to
a halo file, good luck with it...
A little "tutorial"
Keys:
elevate terrain: Enter
Lower terrai: Shift
Move map: Left Mous Button
Rotate map: Right MouseButton
Tool options:
Smooth: this will smooth the edges of your hills
Sharpen: this will sharpen the edges of your hills
Random: this will generate a random map (only the hills, duh...)
View options:
Wireframe: this will give you a wireframed view
Smooth: this will give you a colored view
Passable:Same as smooth but with shadows
Files options:
New
Open
Save:This will save as an Terraedit file, under the usual name
Save as:This will save as an TerraEdit file, under your chosen name
Import:Import a 8 bmp file.
Export:export as a Unreal Text file (*.t3d)
Close
voila, now the beginners can work with it to...

I still have no idea what it does. and how it exports to .3ds
wait u export it to a .t3d then import it into studio max 3ds, and then use the plugin the hek came with, to make the level?

Or u export it in maya (unreal editor) than you convert itto a type that is working with 3dsmax...

I ahvent got the HEK yet(Dial-up) but I have noticed in the UT2003 editor you can export as .obj so can this make the bsp for new maps in HaloCE?
That would be awesome then i wouldnt need a plugin or anything. OR DO CE maps have to be in 3D Studio Max format.

I found a program to open a .t3d and and save it as something 3DS Max 6 can read:
Get Program Here (Make sure you download the developer version):
http://web.axelero.hu/karpo/
NOTE: You must save it as a stereolithell (.stl), this is the only thing you can save on the trial version that 3DS Max 6 can import.

Hey, this is awsome. I Downloaded it, and i heard you can't use it for regular Halo, only Halo CE. Is this true? And what program can you use to turn .THF into .MAP? or can you even do that

? And if you do get this into Halo CE, how big is each map gonna be?
