yeah a game system is not going to rise in value
theyre not collectible they are obsolete and owning one really doesnt have much of and up side if you have something that can do everything the obsolete one can do and more

The situation is different. The Xbox isn't going to be as valuable because of the fact that it has a viable predecessor which can play all of its worthwhile games. The sole reason for it to be valuable would be for collecting, but the Xbox is in such abundance that there is no time in the foreseeable future that it will be worth more than you're going to get for it now. Modern consoles are much, much different than older consoles, the entire gaming scene is much different. Game consoles are now a major form of entertainment, and they are produced in much higher quantities. Consoles of today are not rare commodities, and they likely will never be, like the consoles of yesterday. There is no legitimate basis for thinking the Xbox will ever appreciate in value.

i get where your coming from, the only console that i could see actually having collectors value is the Wii with the motion sensor, but other than that your right, consoles of today will just die away using up space in a landfill...
its sad how our world has gotten to...

I'd be interested in seeing Wii prices ten years from now. It's quite valuable now, I can only imagine that it would go up after production has ceased.

i hope they go back to the normal console styling.. the wiimote is cool and all, but you cant really play games like Halo on that (just an example, Nintendo will NEVER have halo)...

The McDonalds £.54 menu.

Electronics were never one to gain antique value. You'd have to go back several decades for that to occur. Plus they have to be in near mint condition and in working order. Console-wise, Mint Ataris/SNES/etc., Convention swag games, limited releases, "Adult" titles, packaging, etc. Even then, that would only go back to turn of the 90s. If you think it's worth more, keep it for sentimental value. An N64 book value to Nintendo caps out at 50 bucks. Mine however, controllers used, busted, colored, etc. have too much sentimental value to get rid of. The days spent finding every Note and Jiggy in Banjo Kazooie, the hours of frustration in certain levels in Goldeneye and many other games cannot have a pricetag.
