Broken Guitar For Guitar Hero
Hey guys. My green button on my guitar is broken and I don't really know how to fix it. It's not completely broken, but it barely ever works. I thought maybe I could get a new one, but I lost the receipt . Could I still get a new one through some kind of warranty, or am I screwed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Senor_Grunt: Okay, so, I was playing CoD4 earlier, and about 30 minutes into playing, the screen went black, then flashed, then the 360 gave me red rings. Only, they weren't rings, they were half of the ring. Like, only two of the controller light thingies were light up red. WTF does this mean? Like seriously. My 360 still works, but it does that like once every week at the least, and it's getting annoying getting to round 16 in the zombie mode for CoD5 (so totally not bragging ), then suddenly blacking out. :[

You may not need a receipt as you'd get the replacement from the company that makes it, not the place you bought it from, though you probably still might need it as proof of your purchase.
Otherwise, you could take it apart and manually fix it, though this would probably most definitely void your warranty. You could also just buy a new guitar.

Depending on how technical you want to get, you have a few options. First off, you can do what I did to temporarily fix my green button. I pretty much took a few pieces of small paper and wrapped them around the part of the neck that goes into the base of the guitar. It is hard to explain but if you'd like, I could take pictures. Basically this tightens up the connection between the neck and the base so that the neck doesn't move around as much. The problem is that while you are playing, the neck moves and the pins lose their connection.
The other option is a bit harder and involves taking your guitar apart. I'm not going to explain it in full, but you can follow this link (involves soldering) or this link (no soldering).
I haven't played GH much recently so the paper in the neck thing works good enough for me.
Edit: This is all assuming you have a Les Paul...if your green button isn't working on a Xplorer, then you probably have a defective guitar.

Yea, mine is the Les Paul one too. My red button used to be broken, but I stopped playing for a while and it fixed itself. Apparently, this method is not working for the green.
I don't think I want to take apart my guitar, but if that is my last option, I will. I might just end up buying a used one at gamestop. Thank you everyone for the suggestions, keep them coming.
If you could take pics, that would be great because it's kind of hard to picture that in my head. Does the paper make it harder to play/ get in the way? I play expert so I don't want to get all messed up.gtavcmaster100 wrote:It is hard to explain but if you'd like, I could take pictures. Yeah I'll take some pictures when I get back from work...it doesn't get in the way at all, the paper ends up in between the neck and the base of the guitar. It's really hard to explain so I'll get some pictures.bballaplaya4life wrote:Yea, mine is the Les Paul one too. My red button used to be broken, but I stopped playing for a while and it fixed itself. Hey, sorry it took so long for me to get back...I totally forgot that I did one internal fix that brings the PCB in the neck closer to the pins. It's actually really easy to do, you can find a tutorial here.
Here's the picture of my guitar. I have a small piece of paper on the other side as well.
Hope this helps.
