Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Post by WaywornMmmmm »

Well, I picked up my copy today. I have yet to play multiplayer, but the campaign has the same infinity ward feel. The graphics are also stunning. The only disapointing things are that I found is that there is a huge difference in sensitivity between 1 and 2. I would have prefered somewhere in the middle. Veteran also seems a little on the easy side, although I have played only the first few levels.

Discuss.

I'm waiting til Christmas to pick it up (got too many other things I want at the moment, and most of my friends are taking the same approach), but I played the beta and the multiplayer was fucking fantastic.

Christmas can't come fast enough. :P

The beta was awesome, I can't wait to get this game. Gonna rent it ASAP for now, though.

Best game I ever played. Beats Halo 3 by a mile, and the multilayer is awesome! I just feel bad for all my friends on XBL who have to wait till tomorrow to get it.

I plan on picking this up later this week. It looks amazing IMO.

Does anyone know if it has online co-op, or any co-op at all?

It was said to be 5 hours long. That's fine for an FPS...especially a modern warfare one. Plus, it's not like there's some super detailed story they have to tell...it's supposed to be somewhat realistic, much like how Call of Duty 2 and 3 were just you playing some of the crucial battles that occurred in World War II (I think they were all real locations of battles anyway).

Yeah, its just that replayability is a significant factor for me whe paying for a game. You could bring up halo's short campaign but they did stuff to make me want to play it again and again...I'll rent this first methinks to try out most of its features. But even on the tiny video review screen, it looked very pretty (in a war, everything dead and explosions sort of way)

What mainly got me hooked is how deep the multiplayer is. You gain EXP for kills, using the abilities from kill streaks, etc...and as you level up you gain more weapons, perks and challenges. The weapons all have challenges where you are challenged to get X amount of kills, or X amount of headshots (as in each weapon has both of those, they have their own counters)...and when you complete them you get attachments or camo skins respectively, plus tons of EXP.

Not to mention the whole create a class system, which lets you mix and match tons of perks (abilities) and weapons to make whatever you want to suit your play style on any level.

In short, multiplayer totally kicks ass, and doesn't feel like a grind at all, which unfortunately happens to most FPS games with a leveling system.

Is the multi player fast paced like you don't really have a long life expectancy or slower where you can shoot a couple people and relocate then shoot again. Also with the gun system is there a steading time before shooting after running or moving.

Multiplayer is very different. Some of the smaller maps you may have a short life expectancy, but that's not to stop you from going on a 10+ killing spree. But on the larger maps, you may get sniped by a guy you never even saw...sorta unpredictable, but campers get shut down really quick. You can live pretty damn long if you play smart, but in the same way, one death won't exactly devastate the team, that's all I have to say on that.

The guns vary as well. You can blind fire...but pretty much only with some of the later SMGs or the Shotguns. If you go to an iron sight/scope/red dot then you will slow down greatly, and your accuracy will increase a ton. It's not run and gun, but it's not exactly like Vegas where you have to walk half the speed of smell almost all of the time.

I think there's a PC demo out, but it's single player only.

I fail to see the relevance, besides they are both FPS's and are set in a modern time.

I really want to get but I start school in like 2 weeks and wont be playing xbox once I start so it would be a waste of money. Maybe I should just rent it.

Indeed. From the movies i've seen and things I've heard about it, BF2 and CoD4 are completely different games that simply happen to have similar weapons and are in a similar time period.

Can anyone confirm that it would run on a 2.8Ghz p4 with an X800 (well, not crappily, I don't care about graphics)

Everything i've heard about this game seems to be positive; i'm pretty interested in getting it.
