Anyone here play flight simulators? X-Plane, MSFS X? I personally looooove X-Plane...mostly because I care less about things being LOLSHINYREFLECTIVE, and I care more about actual flight and functionality...but what does everyone else think?
That is, if you're a nerd and play flight sims.

When I played games I used to play Wings Over Europe: Cold War Gone Hot. It's pretty fun, but it requires patience (you have to track the jets down (with the help of a locater) and fly to them, which takes a while). It's a pretty good one. There's also a lot of controls, and it has online play, yet, no one plays it haha.

I played one at Dave & Buster's (Huge arcade place) once...
Does that count?

My most recent flight simulator was at timezone where you sit in a chair which vibrates and moves in accordance to your plane on screen and you shoot down evil planes! very fun...
As for a proper one, I've never tried one but have been interested...More interesting than a bus simulator ala Japan
So the one you mentioned shadowkhas without the shinyness is almost low end? if thats the case ill get it

Kids these days and their high end computers

Well, kinda. It doesn't have things that MSFS has, like uber reflections everywhere, and raytraced shadows, but there's ways to make it stutter (setting object density to High :O).
However, when I ran it on my eMac, even though settings were primarily on low, it worked very well and it was not horrible to the point of nonfunctionality.
http://www.x-plane.com/ Have a go at it!

My dad has X-Plane, so I like to push the buttons in the pretty aircraft and see what they do. After discovering the undercarriage only should go up when the plane is in flight, I used the Hindunberg! But other than that and somehow managing to get a plane stuck in space, I suck

Well using a joystick is almost mandatory for flight sims, which is why I don't play them much (not gonna buy one)
Oh sure you don't need one, but it's not true flight sim without a joystick..

Exactly...I've got a Saitek ST290 Pro, and it's GREAT when flying fighters, but I'm also looking into getting a yoke for flying airliners and GA planes.
HPDarkness1, when you say flight control panel controllers, do you mean just the yoke, or the whole flight panel? Cause the autopilot panels are EXPENSIVE.
One thing I like about X-Plane is support for a lot of third-party things...like
Edimensional 3D glasses and TrackIR. I want the glasses really bad...
