Unless they've already been announced as H3 vehicles, I think he means the flying UNSC thing (Did he say Orc? I couldn't tell) and the Anti-aircraft thing (wolverine?)Tural wrote:I think he's trying to say something about two vehicles in the Halo Wars video, but I can't understand fully.
It looks nice, but doesn't look like it would be much fun to play. I'm not a big RTS fan, and playing on a console would just ruin it for me. The whole time I'd want to press a button and switch to FPS, but couldn't.
o.k. i was talking about the hawk which i had heard also referred to as the sparrow hawk and the rhino but there is also the wolverine but i don't think that will be in halo 3 because it can only be used against aerial things and the hawk is different from the hornet in design its longer and narrower and doesn't have seats

the hawk seems to me pretty close to the wasp but way different from the hornet and ya i agree about the wolverines they won't be needed for halo 3 the architecture of halo wars puzzles me its supposed to be post halo yet those buildings seem very forerunner, the narrator said that it was a re captured planet so are those buildings supposed to be covenant? they don't seem too covenant at all more forerunner, the mac was awesome can't wait to get my hands on that but the scarab in halo wars seems to have unlimited fire, where as if you read the books and see in halo 2 the scarab only has a set limit so that it can use its main plasma gun oh well i notice the few differences but im for sure buying it, i was always under the general impression that halo wars was a pc based game but its for 360 0_o good thing i bought one. and iv been apart of halo wars forum for a long time and i think we all thought it was a pc based game lol
No, I think that was just you...newbymodder wrote:i was always under the general impression that halo wars was a pc based game but its for 360 0_o good thing i bought one. and iv been apart of halo wars forum for a long time and i think we all thought it was a pc based game lol
I like the video, seeing everything in miniature version is just very cool

On the first trailer it showed the Xbox 360 logo and it had 'teamxbox' on the bottom right hand corner through out the whole video.newbymodder wrote:well when i was on the site for halo wars it just said Ensemble Studios it didn't say 360 but im kinda glad it is now the graphics will be awesome
I'm pretty sure that means it's for the 360.

yeah the build times were probably edited for demonstration purposes, it's usually like that, i think.
As for the actual game, it's great and all but I keep thinking that there could be more, like a more halo feel to it. To me, right now this looks like Command and Conquer 3 with the units modded to have their models and sounds changed to halo-like ones. I also think the camera is too far away, from that distance it takes away the whole "in your face" idea of the game, something that I think was really part of halo.
I want to see things that made Halo.. Halo. I want to see a grunt die in a couple hits, I want to see elites absurdly hard to kill, jumping brawling through marines, taking them out in a couple hits. Grunts shouldn't be able to take tons of fire like they did in that vid. Grunts are weak, it's their whole point. Marines are average, they're your average Marine (see Starcraft comparison).
I think their actual unit abilities should be fairly similar to the Zerg vs Terran area...
Grunt = Zergling
Marine = Marine
Elite = Zealot but more powerful (expensive, of course)
As for the warthogs, i'm happy with them up to the point of their guns. What happened to the driving around in circles, avoiding fire while the gunner blows the enemy to bits? In the game, this is fairly boring. The warthog drives up to the enemy and starts shooting, but staying in place. How is this new?
I don't know, i'll wait until I see more videos of it to (and more of it completed) make my final verdict. The video wasn't too great at showing off the real game.

Also, I understand the balance issue behind it sorta...but why the fuck can't the Warthog just aim upwards and shoot the Banshees/other aircraft? It's got a fucking LAAG. I mean, it should at least be able to do a small amount of damage to air units. Other RTS have had units that have been able to shoot at air and ground units with no problems balancing them (Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge's Gatling Tanks and base defenses are a prime example).

i thought the narrator said the warthogs were shooting the banshee's a little but were focusing on the troops more so i assume that if there are just banshee's that your hog will shoot at it but if troops are there they will shoot at that as for the comparisons and how its kinda non halo i totally agree with everything said
