I got free tickets to see it again this Saturday. My father watched the Motion comics today and loved them, so he wants to see the movie =]

Very nice. I'm pretty sure I'm tagging along with some other friends to see it Saturday or Sunday, as the resident comic geek.
I can't wait for the DVD with the Black Freighter storyline intertwined, though.

It was entertaining. Pushed some boundaries. What it seemed to lack was a nice, smooth flow through all the events. Naturally this is due to them cramming and cutting. I found some of the references amusing and I could also tell when they made the shot look like a comic book frame (i haven't read it by the way). I was also happy that the director cut the fuck back on slo mo...Though it was still there - even when people were talking to eachother.

I haven't read the book or what ever, but the movie was pretty good. A little long.

I wouldn't compare it to Kubrick or Apocalypse Now!, It's a good movie, but not THAT good. It's like The Dark Knight without the Heath Ledger Heartstring bull.

I thought it was pretty damn good. (I didn't even want to see it.)

The girl that dragged me to the movie didn't like it though....

Buy this if you liked the movie, but thought the backstory was a little vague. "Under the Hood" will soothe you, and "Tales of the Black Freighter" is just awesome. (It doesn't make much sense as a standalone video, as it was a story-within-a-story in the graphic novel of Watchmen, so you'd have to wait until the director's cut of Watchmen comes out on DVD, with it spliced into the actual movie.

The runtime on that will be 3:20-ish. Fantastic.

what fun is that? You go watch a movie. theres more to the movie, but we won't show you in one sitting, so now you wait 3-4 months until it's DVD release so you can finally have some closure? Are the added bits remaining still animated? Or are they going to rework it so it's LA?

Under the Hood is all live stuff.
Black Freighter is animated.

For most movies, I would say that yes, it is overkill. But Watchmen (to me, at least) isn't just some movie that you see and then it's done...it's a good bit of discussion on philosophy and fun stuff like that. That's what Under the Hood builds on. The Black Freighter would've been great to have in the actual movie, but then NOBODY would've gone to see it due to the length. So, that works as an extended edition.

I have only one question to ask David Hayter:

WHAT'S A RUSSIAN GUNSHIP DOING HERE?
