Eh...I'd rather not give out my AIM screen name/password to any website, regardless of how trustworthy they are. Shit happens, I'd rather not take chances.

That's how I'd get there at school (school firewall doesn't block secure sites).

I've been using it for over a year. I'd trust it with my life. I use it because:
1. It keeps all of my IM windows in an IE tab
2. It allows me to log into a single "application" to access all of my IMs
3. I don't have to install software, which tends to la--l--g--lag my computer and run at startup/in the background

And if you don't like having your chats in an IE window, you can pop them out into independent windows.

I'd go with it. I've shown it to a million people.

My friend has to use this, her computer is really old or something, can't even run AIM. She's always on and it works just fine for her, so I'd say it's good.

These are reasons to trust this website with your life? Odd...

i used to use trillian, but it kinda sucks...this thing has all green, meebo is a good site...and it covers more messengers than trillian..

I've used this for quite a while, but only ever when I'm on a computer without AIM. It's meh.

Trillian supports:
-AIM
-ICQ
-IRC
-Jabber
-MSN
-Yahoo Mesenger
-Skype
-IMVU
-POP3 and IMAP E-mail Forwarding
-Winamp Integration
-RSS and Bookmark Integration
-Xfire Implementation
-IM Logging

Plus plugin support and no ads. Overall, Trillian is better and doesn't really suck at all.

EDIT: The only thing that Trillian doesn't support that meebo.com does is Gtalk or whatever. Besides Gtalk, Trillian offers far more than meebo.

One word: Pidgin.

I used to use Trillian, but I started using Pidgin, and now, I'm not going back. Its a pretty good IM bundler.

Why it's better than Trillian and such:
NO INSTALL/NO SOFTWARE/NO CONSUMED HDD SPACE
I'm all for web apps. I keep all important data on a server in my basement, so I have nothing to lose on my laptop. The less I have to install and the less I have to f*ck with my Windows registry, the better.

Trillian does support that.

Instant messaging is something I do not want in my browser. I want it to be an application.
Furthermore, Trillian's UI is the best I've seen, and it is the sole reason for my continuous use of it, despite file transfer problems with some people.

Sorry, didn't know that < 5mb was such a massive strain on your computer. Clearly that makes it FAR superior.

Pidgin > All. Kinda like Trillian. But yeah, I agree with Tural here...I close my browser a lot, sometimes mistakenly, and I'd rather have a separate app for chatting, that I won't inadvertently close.
