Well, I was bored out of my mind today, had a bunch of cardboard laying around, I figured "Might as well do something with this." So I started making an Assault Rifle. I think it's coming along very good.

The top part of the AR, This took me about 10min

Here is the handle I sculpted from a piece of foam core, This took about 15-20 min. I had to sculpt it then sand it down.

The long pink piece in the previous picture was slid into the cardboard frame to hold the handle in place.

I still have a lot to do. I need to build the bottom grip, flashlight, and muzzle. I will probably add a working flashlight. I have an old airsoft gun that has broken casing. Maybe I will take it apart and build a working AR. This will probably end up being a project for this week, I am thinking about also doing a helmet.

For the materials you built it out of, it's not bad. But it's not good. Keep at it! I'd like to see a finished product.

I know it's not good, It's basically just the skeleton. I still have a lot of work. A LOT. >_>

Why not make it all out of foam core? It seems to give you a better shape.

I probably would if I had enough, plus foam core is hard to sculpt. Maybe I will make the exterior all foam core. I have just enough to cover up the cardboard.

Just like something else.

On the serious side, it looks like it has potential for some cardboard and foam.

Assuming you aren't some kind of sculpting expert, that's pretty damn good for what it is.

I'm not a sculpting expert :P I think it's pretty good. It's my first attempt at anything like this. It's also built with no reference pictures. >_>

Yes, I will probably make a detachable clip.

Pretty funny and in a way, resourceful, your becoming Macgyver ...But unless there is a working, dynamic ammo counter with a compass it means little ;)

these are pretty sweet if you ever made something like this id be like :o :o :o

about the air soft if you could find a rifle with the right length size etc. put it in there just add a barrel extension if necessary and all that would need to be exposed it clip (so you can take it out), trigger and safety.

Might I point you to the 405th Forums? Aka, the old www.mjolnirarmor.com . Site is steadily growing and is based around Halo prop making. We have some unique techinques along with some awesome methods of armor/prop making.

The things you have seen around the net of Halo props general come out of that site/forums. The current Master Chief Suit on the front page of Ebay is from the Admin on those forums, the "real life" MA5C is by Link4044 and he is a global moderator there, his site is the EastCoastPropers if you guys didn't know. We are in the current and possible shift of becoming and offical 405th similar to the 501st for Star Wars.

Hope to see you guys around.
