Point 1) It was a decision we made. If you disagree with it, fine. That doesn't change the fact that it was a rule put in place. Why do we have any rules? Because we chose to enact them. You say "The models and textures contained within were all used in the beta itself, so unless there is something I am unaware of, there would be nothing rendered and posted that any of us haven

I doubt you'll read this, but your Way it was Meant to be Played mod has been moved to Outstanding, with the old one removed.
I frankly didn't know there was an update, so it's only fair that the new version replaces the old.

Most people are here to see other peoples mods and have fun making their own. As I am.
I don't come here saying there better be GREAT mods or I am out. Halomods is now in a state of growth, meaning we have a lot of NEW members just learning, not quite able to produce even somewhat good mods. Give it time. I have Been here since this place opened, it just slow because people are moving on to bigger and better things, and we need new members to take up there spots, maybe even you.
If your going to let a person get to you, or leave becuase your not satisfied with the mods that are being produced, thats just alittle sad.

I agree with the quality aspect, Halomods 2003 and Halomods 2007 are very different. 2003- Everyone was still learning, mods were huge breakthroughs that took a lot of time and effort to do even simple things. Now it's too easy to make a mod, which is why we have projectile swaps and such because when someone new comes, it feels like an accomplishment to them, so they share it. People that have been here long enough see it as a waste of time, and typicaly flame whoever posted it. Then we have people who haven't been here very long that flame people for no apparent reason, or who are offended when someone tries to help them... <_> *Wishes it was 2003 again*

Well guys, I'm never really here... (in fact, I think I left) but I've been here quite a while, made some friends in the process, but I wasn't expecting you guys to treat Jean like this when he left, maybe a simple goodbye would have sufficed.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting is that Jean wanted to say a few things:
Well, since I no longer will post here, I shall go through someone else for what I feel is necessary.
Tural and Armed Civilian, I am in disbelief than you could be so disrespectful to my last statement on this website. I have done more for this community than you have ever done, and your retaliation is to completely disregard my explicit remark that this topic is not a debate. You blatantly ignore that, and post counterarguments to prove me wrong, and try to tell me I am disrespectful myself.
And Armed Civilian, "Give it Time....We need new members to take up their spots, maybe even you." I can't even believe it. I have made 4 mods in my time here, 3 of of which made it into outstanding. Don't talk like you know my life's story.
I wanted to leave in a peaceful manner, where people could say their goodbyes in a simple manner, not in insults.
I haven't been here much, yet I've seen what this community turned to with the frequent visits I've made. Jean and Guilty are both correct, the past is better than the present in this particular community. It's sad that someone who is never here can see that, while everyone else is blindly going about their lives, completely oblivious as to how the community is changing.
Now, to you guys, what I say probably means nothing, you don't know me, or you don't care to know me. But know that you've lost a good member from your community today because of ignorance.

You're being just as disrespectful to the community as you claim we are to you. What do you want from us? Sympathy? You're leaving for rather absurd reasons, several of which you have shown a blatant ignorance towards. Perhaps if you had made this more of an open discussion, less of a stubborn "I'm leaving and not posting. Nothing is up for debate," then you would be experiencing less of such comments. Why should we not pose counterarguments when you are wrong? If we failed to do so, you're potentially influencing other members with false information. That's not very fair. You're contributing to people being wrong and being misinformed. It would be assisting the downfall of this site. Awfully ironic, it would seem.
Honestly, if you want to continue talking, just post. It's ridiculous to go through someone else. If you refuse to post, then do just that. Don't comment. Just leave, as you said you were. You're not leaving. You're just saying that as a way to make this thread. You're still here. You're still reading this thread. If you do indeed leave, then the thread serves no more purpose. If you do not, then just come out and post. It's more productive than hiding in the shadows making your posts from afar.

His time here is clearly not related to how much he knows about what he speaks. Perfect example is the beta issue. He said that there was nothing in the maps that was not in the playable beta. That is factually incorrect. At the time of the rule, there were several unrevealed models and such in the beta map files. Although now, they have all been revealed, at that time there were not. He made no attempt to investigate the rule, no attempt to contact those involved, no attempt to look for himself, and no attempt to do anything other than assume he was correct and then base his argument off of that.
I feel no sadness for someone who makes false claims from a one-sided perspective. If he had present this a little less stiffly, and been more open to discussion, there would be more room for that. I know Jean, I like him, I respect him. My feelings towards him personally, however, have no impact on how I react to his comments. My personal opinion does not interfere with my disagreements. What he said is wrong, I intend to confront it, regardless of who he is or how well I know him. I can still respect him as a person while disagreeing with him as a poster, which so happens to be what I'm doing. The only thing leading to a lack of respect is that he refuses to post, but still chooses to comment. I feel that he should not be hiding, and if he has something to say, to come out and say it.

Fine, I tried to be true to my word and really have my last post be that one, but I guess I have no choice here. This is not how I wanted to leave. This topic became exactly what I said I didn't want it to become, and debate, a fight, and it just proves my point as to how often this happens. I do not wish to further this argument, because no matter how wrong I was in my views, I just wanted to present them and be done with it, not have to defend myself. If a moderator could clean this topic and just let people say their goodbyes without posting a counter-argument to my reasons for leaving, then please do so. If you feel people are incapable of just saying goodbye, just lock it and be done with it.
