Today I saw an rss on G4 T.V. that had details on the fact that Microsoft is now black listing Xbox live Gamer Tags with the words linux and unix.

It's not an allowed word any more if you try to type it in...it's a bit extreme, but maybe they'll let people choose a new name at least.

what dicks. i hope they let people change their names. the move makes sense business-wise, but this is just ... chinese. and plain stupid if they don't let people change their name.

Not only is Linux a competator against Windows, but it has played a huge role in xbox modding.

because there's obviously a linux alternative to a 360 and xbox live <.<.

besides, i think the issue here is that they're banning people based on a non-offensive username, not history of modding on live or anything.

They only reason I can see of this being a big deal; they didn't include their right to change and detain any names in the ToS you agree to upon subscription.

It's all because of those ****s that make SUSE. They had to go and screw with Microsoft.

Edit: Holy crap, I could've sworn that was in the censor list.
Edit: This is nothing compared to the other words banned from mottos. The list is nearly endless and includes everything from Linux to Microsoft to ball(s).
