He knew the risks, he chose to break the law anyways.

yep. softmods FTW! He isn't to smart to be selling mod chips like that anyways.

Yeah, Xecuter has stopped making modchips now too. Well, shit happens when you break the law.

Agreed. Also is this a modder from this community?

I'm wondering why this is being posted everywhere, considering the fact that nobody posted about the dozens of raids that took place over this week.

http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep ... ejEbPa.php

He's not from this community, but he's from a different Halo modding community, one which won't be specified.

No. I wont release any names though

there were several sites that went down and probably wont be coming back now.

I don't believe they were hostile raids. They likely showed up with a few police officers and some special personal, confronted the people, explained the situation, and started their work. I don't think it's the typical "Police! Search warrant!" type thing.

I don't understand, what was he doing?
Does this mean we're all in danger?

He was conducting illegal modding activity.

He was likely selling modchips/offering to mod Xboxs. No, individual people who do it as a personal thing themselves are likely not in current danger. That's not to say nothing will happen, as there's always been that chance, but these events don't change the situation for normal people.

We cannot allow this to go on, it will only be a matter of time before they shut down HaloMods, HaloMaps, xbox scene, and any other modding sites. We must do something against the DMCA and/or the large corporate companies that control it.
They can make anything they want illegal, if you model the H3 assault rifle, they can decide that thats against the law, come in and take any electronic devices above the tech level of a microwave >_>

This may sound like a stupid question, but did they just confiscate his property or did they fine him? Jail time?

Man, that would suck. But I guess he deseved it, had it coming.
Damn.

Yeah, I know. I should've worded that better. I wonder what the other consequences are.

Im Happy, one less Xbox modder off the street, or... internet, for that matter.

I never supported Xbox modding anyways, but if i were to mod a console, I would at least softmod, its not like theres a BIG difference.

i don't think i get this, so modding your own console is illegal? i thought it only voided the warranty? so if i were to mod my xbox my soldering a chip onto it i could be arrested/charged? how's this work exactly and what did the guy do that was illegal?
