Someone here had one of those, I believe. He showed off some Halo models.

That printer is pretty cool, but at the 40k price tag I can't see my self buying that for sometime, if ever.

But since now, I've only heard of a 3D Scanner.

The thing that is new is organ printers. It's still in development but in the first test it printed out 2 layers of heart tissue and it was alive and pumping. (or pulsating.)

If you guys are interested it's on one of the 2057 videos.

I've seen one of those before, in the career and technology center near my city, but it takes forever to make a model, and it's not in full color it just makes some white things. But yeah those are expensive and pretty cool.

Indeed, the first rapid prototyping machines were made in the '80s.
$40,000? There are rapid prototyping units with high-quality results that are under $5,000. You can get a better model for around $20,000.

3d printing is neither new nor expensive.

Seems like a waste to me. $40,000 for some lame piece of plastic or whatever they're made out of.

I really don't see the fascination behind these. It just makes plastic models. Big Woop.
