Building a PC.

Post by T1xAnton »

Hey guys!
This is T1xAnton of course and I was wondering if you could help me choose parts for a new computer. Preferably parts from Newegg. I would like to keep it under 1,100 USD. Any help would be appreciated.

This doesn't include monitor, mouse, or keyboard.

And for the people who say.. Choose your own parts.. Well. I did. I have them in notepad right now. I just want to see what you guys think I should get so I can decide on it. ;P

And to the mods. I didn't know where to put this. So I thought CAFE! Why not! if this is in the wrong section could you move it please? Thanks.

If you can afford it get this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103772
It owns every intel dual core.

I hope you're not serious.

Edit: Since I'm not going to be building my pc for a while, I thought I'd post some suggestions. For cpu's, I've heard only good things about the Conroes. The C2D e6600 looks like a very good choice to me unless you want to hold out until the Penryn series gets here. I'd expect a price drop at that point.

For ram, you need at least 2GB. I don't know much about brands and such so I won't even try to help there. Just make sure the timings are compatible with your motherboard and you do some research.

I'd recommend the 8800GTS for the video card. You probably would only need the 320MB version unless you're running at 1600x1200 or higher in which you'd have to chuck in $100 more. I haven't really seen the price of this change however so you might want to look at the Geforce 7 series. I haven't heard much good from the 8600 as the 8800 stomps it in almost every way. In addition, a lot of the cards from the 7 series outperform the 8600 and are quite a bit less pricey.

Timings are iffy. I'm taking these at face value from my friend who actually did a research project on computer memory, but he says that timings don't make much of a difference in speed.

As for the graphics cards, yeah, the 7950GT is a REALLY good graphics card, and if they still had them, then I would recommend dual of those.

Just don't do what I did...Bought all the best things a few mouths back and then EVGA put out the 8800 ultra black pearl that stomps my poor 8800 GTX in the ground. Also come July 22nd Intel processors should have much lower prices.

Intel FTW! AMD sucks in everyway

/sigh.. im an AMD user, not even an intel fanboy but i can tell you that an intel dual core COULD and WOULD outperform that processor.

Let's try not to turn this into an Intel vs. AMD thread, please.

There's no need for Intel vs. AMD; just look at the benchmarks that show the Core 2 Duo as a clear winner and absolute dream for overclockers.
