heard about this a while ago, should prove very promosing.

edit: what i think is even better are solid-state drives that use some for of NVRAM or something. MUCH MUCH MUCH faster, and uses less than a watt when operating: http://news.digitaltrends.com/article12556.html

New? I heard about this over a year ago.
And the next big thing is like [cc]z@nd! said: Flash memory based HDDs. It's like a giant USB memory stick. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/samsung/sams ... 247405.php
With bigger sizes, like those above, coming out for cheaper, flash based "disk" drives are going to be the big thing.

I'm so sick of hearing about all these super dense material based HDDs and shit...I won't start caring until they actually fucking make them and begin to sell them. I swear, I've seen at least 10 different "new storage breakthrough" pages on Digg, yet haven't seen one marketed.

I was unaware of that...thanks for the linky. It still doesn't really seem to have much of a benefit in terms of price...but at least they're trying.

The benefit is meant to be more data can be packed into a smaller area, not price.

Exactly....but not a price benefit, until the technology is more developed.
