Well...It seems that 5 years has gone by very quickly...In a matter of days perhaps...Because the Apple iPhone was announced as "5 years ahead of competition", even with major competitors already featuring the same technical specifications (mostly better...except the touchscreen)...

Anyway, enough of my Apple's mighty, massive ego dislikes...Onto the show!

In the red corner we have Apple's iPhone, American designed, hosts some pretty kool specs, some average some good...High cost...


In the blue corner, we have the Meizu M8, a phone similarly made however, supposedly Chinese design with admirable specs and a much cheaper cost, also runs the more widley used windows mobile OS on the phone. Oh and it runs on a fast 3g network too...One which will probably soon be in other areas like Australia and America.


Whilst I too am thinking Meizu is cutting it a bit close, I like having more for less...and that's exactly why I bought a Meizu M6 miniplayer mp3/mp4 player over an iPod...It has a similar design, however it completley kicks Apple's ass in features and quality, which is why I am actually going to see what this thing does before hating it for being a copy...


What's your thoughts on such a device? Also, if Apple does indeed sue in future, Apple has recently lost a lawsuit about overseas copies of their creations, so its not as if its a sure set loss for Meizu. I could also bring up the RAZR phone clones and creativ'es iPod esque designs too...

Well I give them effort for creating a product almost exactly the same except with a few worthless features and the lack of several important ones

Can't say for sure. The only specs that have been released is all worthless info-- any phone/mp3/4 player that comes out nowadays without that sort of stuff is worthless.

Have you looked up all the things the iPhone can do? All it's features?

Nah...I already have a good phone that does all I need and I disliked his ego in the presentation...I probably should get rid of my evil evil bias...

funny though, just because I dislike apple's ago im catagorised as a Microsoft fanboy...They both suck Just wait till I release the ORSM OS in 2010

Just because I don't like Microsoft doesn't mean I'm a Apple fanboy either. They just create quality products. Can't say the same for any other company, to tell the truth. Apple is the only company where I have never had a problem... other than user error of course. People often blame many things on user error...

The thing is, this isn't the first time that company has copied a different product... it has quite the reputation now.. and not a good one

hehe yeah...I find it pretty funny...And the fact that their default backgrounds heavily resemble apple's aqua background is quite humerous...
I think as soon as they branch over to America in full force they will get owned.

And if you compare the two photos you notice that there's the same amount of menu options but just the windows equivalent icon...I'd almost think this would be a Photoshopped effort (but I woulda made it black for microsoft) but since this came from Meizu's people, its just a bit more than "inspired"

3G on the iPhone: It's coming. They've said so. Apple has said that there WILL be future versions that will support it. The launch doesn't support it because 3G isn't as widely used in the US (although I agree that 3G = win).

Comparing the two Phones...look at the leftmost icon on the second row. The calculator icon on the corner in the Meizo phone looks REEEEALLY close to the iPhone's calculator icon.

I'd probably buy the iPhone, the 4GB one, once it comes down maybe $50-$100. I mean, you really go have to look at what it incorporates. It's a very good music and video player, it's a portable web browser (not with crappy text-only internet like other phones) that can use Wi-Fi when it's in range), and it's a smartphone. Adding up just the costs is my measure of quality. $200 for a 4GB iPod, $300 for a Motorola Q, and then figure in that it has a bunch of cool features and innovations...

I'm probably going to buy the Meizu. I was going for the iPhone but if the Meizu is made I'd much rather buy that.
