Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD

It was inevitable...
What do you think will come out on top? And why?
I personally think and hope HD-DVD does, only because I can't afford HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.
Hopefully if HD-DVD does come out the winner, the other movie companies will change over, whilst Universal make most of the good movies, I think it would be nice to have all movies available on HD-DVD.
Blu-Ray will have the same fate as Beta Max IMO.

Quite.
I favor HD-DVD based simply on the fact I can get it for my 360 whenever I want, and spend far less than a PC-specific HD-DVD drive or a Blu-Ray drive.

Agreed. My only major concern is the movie companies that are contracted or whatever with Blu-Ray.

All of the reviews I've seen say there is no noticeable difference in image quality unless you're some overly critical person with the most overly top-of-the-line TV.

I don't have a HDTV so I don't really care too much.
I'd rather HD-DVD come out on top so it fucks up Sony...

What about Red-ray?
Apparently 97 percent of the DVD manufacturers in china have announced plans to switch to this format in the coming years.

HD-DVD, simply because it is a much more familiar name with the consumers, and is a much smoother name.
People will see Blu-Ray and not know what it is, but if you say "HD-DVD", anyone could figure out that it's an advanced DVD form.

"Sony, on the other hand, has a track record of starting format wars, and losing them too. Beta, mini-disc, umd, and atrac have all been huge flops, but they just don't seem to learn their lesson because they're too greedy." -- phishbook.com
"What if you don't give a damn about watching movies on your game console? What if you prefer to buy a separate HD player? That's the rub. Sony forces you to buy Blu-ray. MS doesn't force you to buy HD-DVD. It's about giving the consumer options. Bargain my arse, as a consumer I prefer options." -- forums.adventuregamers.com

I prefer my 360 HD-DVD Player. I also own a PS3 and Blu-Ray just looks like a movie with a sharpness filter from Photo Shop. Plus I prefer Microsoft over Sony.

In terms of sales, HD-DVD is winning right now.

I like the name Blu-Ray better, but in terms of reality, HD-DVD is my pick.

In a way...You gotta just marvel at Blu-Ray disks...What with 50-200gb (I think thats what I heard) on one disk...
And TDK recently announced that they have created a working experimental Blu-ray Disc capable of holding 200 GB of data on a single side, using six 33 GB data layers
I heavily dislike that a disk can hold more than my entire hdd...Makes me jealous

...so you don't like HD because it has the Microsoft logo on it, even though it's a breakthrough in home entertainment?
